Amanda Bynes retracts child molestation accusations, blames 'brain microchip'

Troubled Amanda Bynes has recanted her sensational allegations of child abuse against her father, blaming a "microchip" in her brain for causing her to tweet the accusations.

The Hairspray star stunned fans on Friday (10Oct14) when she took to her Twitter.com account and ranted about her dad, Rick, claiming he behaved inappropriately around her for years.

In a series of posts, she alleged Rick had been "verbally and physically" abusive to her as a kid and once reportedly asked her to have sex with him.

She went on to accuse her mother, Lynn, of failing to put a stop to her husband's "perverted" actions and concluded the damning post by revealing she is seeking a protective order to prevent her father from coming anywhere near her again, adding, "I cannot hear the sound of His incestually charged voice ever again and I'm just being honest... I will not be manipulated or brainwashed by anyone anymore".

Bynes' mom responded to the shocking allegations by defending Rick, insisting she is "heartbroken" for her husband of 47 years.

In a statement released by her lawyer, Tamar Arminak, Lynn said, "These allegations stem from Amanda's mental state at the moment. They have no basis in reality. It saddens me beyond belief that my husband's character could be slandered in such a way."

The embattled star's older siblings, Jillian O'Keefe and Tommy Bynes, also jumped to their dad's defense, telling TMZ.com, "We are disturbed beyond words that Amanda would come up with such a fabrication as a way to avoid getting much needed help or treatment."

Now Bynes has retracted her headline-grabbing allegations, suggesting her mind has been manipulated by an electronic implant she believes was fitted by doctors during her extended 2013 stay in a mental health facility.

In a bizarre new tweet, she writes, "My dad never did any of those things (I alleged) The microchip in my brain made me say those things but he's the one that ordered them to microchip me (sic)."

The actress has been hitting headlines for all the wrong reasons of late - she was arrested for DUI in California in late September (14) and fled to New York, where she clashed with a fan during a night out on Monday (06Oct14) and was accused of shoplifting on Wednesday (08Oct14).
