No. Tyrese can get down. Like he's like I ain't What I look like dancing, I'm grown. You know what I'm saying?
So great to have you guys here. Can we do a tiny little reenactment of your face when you walked into the UN Hollywood studio?
What in the hell is going on here? This is just rude. This is innovative. This is creative. This is just wrong. And I just Whoever you are, just just shut up. Just get away from me. I don't appreciate all of this creative stuff with the neon lights and just sexy people on white couches. This is not right. Oh, you think I like this pillow, right?
You take it a step further. I love it. I love it. I love it. Tell us about the pillow.
Yeah, let's talk about that. Yeah. Okay. You could have went to Google Images and put me on this pillow, okay? As a matter of fact, you need some color on here anyway.
Did you do that before?
Uh, no. Well, briefly. But he doesn't really remember. Oh, really? An actually I make fun of him all the time. I was like, "Can I get a picture with you, man?" He was like, "Hold on, I'm looking for my wife." And like he had this like really deep tone, like straight face. And I was just like, "Okay, so." All right.
I don't have a wife. I didn't it ain't it ain't
You don't remember this?
No, what I'm saying is, you know, sometimes when you get in relationships, you call the girlfriend the wife P. So he walks up to him with his pops to take a picture. And I was going through some stuff at the time. Okay. And he's like, "Yo, can we take a picture?" And I was like, "One second. I'm looking for my wife."
Does that mean does that mean we can't take a picture or? Is this one of those situations? Is this like, "Okay, we just gonna We gonna meet with him later." Don't you have a perfume, a ladies' perfume that you're working on coming out? Yeah. Yeah. So, I mean, tell me how that came Why a ladies' perfume? 'Cause that smells like, I want I want some of that.
Well, because I felt like I know what I want to smell on your neck. That's putting it pretty bluntly, isn't it? You know what I mean? I feel like me as a man. I feel like I know what I want to smell.
So let's talk about Black Nativity. This cast is unbelievable. I feel like I mean, you're talking Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, J-Hud. Can I call her J-Hud?
J-Hud, I call her J-Hud.
She plays your mom in the film, right?
Mm-hm.
And I think I saw on your Instagram, you said you guys went really deep in this role.
Yeah. We did.
Tell me about that.
I mean, the thing is the jokes that you see flying right now, with all
Which we love.
It was not happening on the set. No. Not at all. It was tense, it was uncomfortable, and it was it was it was one of them type of movies. And Jacob was also very focused. I I think I probably seen him smile five times during the whole movie. Um, he's gonna shock a lot of people with his performance in the movie and I think it was just one of them situations where everybody felt like they gotta bring their A-game. Um, it was my first time experiencing Iron sharpens iron.
I gotta move my two feet. But I can't make these hands meet. She struggled. What kind of parents are you? We're the brokenhearted kind. The silence is too loud for me. That just ain't fair. Is there anyone out there? Is there anyone care?
You both have out you have an album out now and you have a mixtape out now.
Yeah, uh, this is me, volume two. Yep.
And you were you have an album out, but you're also working on a solo album, too.
Um, well, I'm I'm gonna be dropping my sixth album. Um, I just dropped one called Three Kings. That was number one by the way. Hay. I didn't mean to clap for the pillow. Maybe I should clap for the pillow.
I think it was your Instagram. You were cleaning your house or something.
Oh my God, you saw that?
It's the best thing I've ever seen. And I want you to show me like a move or something. teach me something. Oh my God. Oh my God.
Well, it was like It was it was the the the the L. A. twins that they're on the They were actually on the Beyonce tour.
Who's the better dancer between you two?
Tyrese. That's not true. No. Tyrese can get down. My It's no. I'm telling you, Tyrese can get get down. I mean, like all the way down.
This is just not I ain't What I look like dancing, I'm grown. You know what I'm saying?
A-list advice. Both of you. A-list advice. Best advice you've sort of received or best best advice you can give to people out there who are trying to make it.
Um, I would say a few things. Be conscious of dream killers and vision killers. A lot of people in your family, your loved ones, boyfriends, girlfriends, wives, et cetera, they could be the first unfortunately to try and talk you out of something great that you want to do or are supposed to do with your life and career. Try and surround yourself with people that do the things that you want to do. And the days that you feel weak or unencouraged because you're not struggling alone, they'll be there to uh keep you inspired and as much as you wanna teach based on the things that you may know or be aware of, you also have to stay humble and remain astute.
When you said, "When I grow up," what did you think you wanted to do?
I wanna I music was always something I wanted to do. Um, my my dad and my uncles, they're in a gospel quartet called the Lattimore Brothers. And actually, while they were on stage, I was about six years old. They say I jumped on stage while they performing. My cousin had to drag me off. And I started crying and something like that. So, we So, like So, like music I wanna be Get off me, you know what I'm saying? Music's always just been a part, but acting is something um I really just started getting into.
You wanna be a garbage collector when you were young?
Yeah. What what does that sound? Black Rose that grew from concrete. Is that true though? I used to I used to put on like four belts um just as my back brace. And I would go like nine houses up the street every trash day and help the trash man put the trash on the truck. Crazy thing is, true story. Um, I was in New York um when I was doing Black Nativity. And I was at a light and I was in a in a limo, um Town Car. And this guy was riding on the back of a truck, 'cause you know in New York they'd be dancing, listening to music, riding, hanging off the side of the truck. And they just make the shit look cool as hell. And I get out of my car and I just jumped on the back of the truck. And as the truck stopped, I helped him to put all the trash on the truck for like three stops. Yeah. So I just So I figured that story would earn me a slot on the pillow.
Definitely will cut.
Yeah. Cut. You know what I'm saying? You see what I'm saying? And you see this pillow, right? Yeah. So what I was thinking was um I could go in the middle. Um, this whole section. You gonna Selena out? That's mine.
My other understanding is that the CEO lives like three doors down from this place and And he's the person that you want to cut out actually. He's right there.
Oh, wow. Oh. And that's what I'm saying. You know what I'm saying? CEO the vibe, the CEO came in here. So I figured through a little cutting and pasting.
Wait, cut Oh my God. Oh my God. Who's trying to cut you out of the pillow? That's what I hear. They text me like, "Hey, come on and meet Tyrese." I walk in the room and that's what I hear, "I want to replace this guy." I walk in this room like, "What in the hell is going on here, man?" This is incredible, man. This guy's been You know what I mean? Yeah, this this is awesome. Yeah, I've been here in the lunch. I feel like I haven't made it yet if I didn't know about this thing, man.
