RJ here, hanging out at the Young Hollywood studio. And now we have a special treat. We have a brother and sister combo going on here. Rico Rodriguez, you know him from Modern Family. Hot show right now. Rainey, his sister, Mall Cop. That film was hilarious. So all kinds of stuff we want to talk to you about. First off, on the show, Sofia Vergara, your mom. Let's talk about her accent. I want to see you do an impersonation. Okay.

All right. Well, Manny, get over here.

It kind of sounds like her actually.

Yeah. Cuz I mean when she's all like mad in the in the show, she gets like fire and like, get over here before I hit you.

Okay. That is funny. All right, we got to talk about your dad. I mean, it's Al Bundy. Yeah. It's like legendary. Did you see the show before? Did you ever see Married with Children?

No, cuz when my dad told me I booked it. Uh they said you'll never guess who your dad is. I said, who? Like I was so getting excited. And he said, Ed O'Neill. Who's that?

How is he in person? Is he like a

Oh, he's a he's a really great guy. He he acts like my dad, my real dad. Like he's sitting here and then all of a sudden I feel him patting my back and that's what my dad would do. I was like, that's so cool. Like it we're pretending like we're like an actual family.

Earlier you were saying you like Texas more than LA. What's up with that? I'm born and raised in LA. Okay. How can you not like LA more?

Well, this is how it is for us. We're kind of torn. LA is where our career is. Texas is where all of our family is. All of our grandmas, we have two older brothers, we have five five nieces.

You have like a hundred people in your family, right?

We have like a family reunion. It's about like

It's about 200.

No, like 500 people show up.

500 people.

Yeah, it's crazy, but it's so awesome. And that's my mom's side and that's my dad's side. Dad's side and we all just show up together. It's really funny though, but we do have a lot of family. But we love that. Family's so important to us.

I want to talk about what is going on here. I've been watching this the whole interview. What what is this? Okay, well

Well, let's just say like people like I'm talking and I'm like this and I'm like being blindsided by the rainbow over here.

Yeah, a long story short. Bad day in Vegas.

Uh, well, so what happened was was that um, we went to a charity event called the Lollipop Theater Network. And um and they were doing glitter tattoos. And as I was getting it, I was like, How long does this stay on? And she's like, about five to 10 days. I'm like, Oh boy, that's going to be great. Like walking around like in business and then there's bam, a big glitter tattoo.

We got to talk fashion now. This is a cool little hat you got going on.

How did you decide today, okay, I'm going to put on this cool hat?

Well, um, I didn't want my mom to do my hair. I didn't want to I didn't want to do my hair.

That's smart.

So, so I was like, you know, I uh I just I'll just wear the hat.

I got, let's get back to modern family now. Okay. People are obsessed with this show. What's it like walking down the street and people are like, oh my god, it's a modern family guy.

Well, it's funny cuz I'm used to people just walking past me, not like recognizing me. So whenever the show came out, my my first person who recognized me, I was like walking down the street and then they just turned to me and said, how are you doing? I'm like, I'm good. How are you? And then say, oh, you're really good on the show. But the one funny thing about the guys is that they don't say you're really good on the show, how's it working? They're too cool to say that, right? No, no. This is what they say. How's it working with your mom?

Ah, everyone's in love with Sophia.

Yeah. That's good.

Now Rainey, have you been going to set much and and hanging out?

Oh, yeah, I love going to set.

And what do you think of that? Does it make you nervous when Rainey's on set?

We both call trouble, like, um, you know, he uh they gave him a flip camera, so he loves to make little videos. He's very creative, so he'll sit at home and he'll get on his computer and he's actually wrote like a Modern Family script. And and I, you know, and you're like, okay, well that's so cute Rico. And then he says, we'll read it. I read it and it was surprisingly really funny and really like on point of what the characters are.

Last thing I want to know. Do you guys ever fight? You get along way too well.

Well, there's always going to be a little brother, sister.

Yeah, brother, sister.

I bet you're fighting over the key sign that she got and you didn't.

Yes, I mean, I wanted the rainbow. I know. But she got the rainbow and I said, you know what? Forget it, I'm not going to get one anyway.

We know, we live together, we share a room together, we work together, we see each other every single day. We share water, by the way.

We're here. We share water bottles and we do interviews together. We

What don't you do together?

We literally have no room to fight. We're just together all the time, so we keep each other, you know, motivated and we help each other. We're each other's support system. We're always there for each other and we always will be, so.
