Rex Lee

My um strategy sometimes when it comes to certain people is I try to be as boring as possible so that so that they don't want to write about me. And that's what happened with Perez. He stopped writing about me because he just found me too boring.

Young Hollywood

Everyone, Nikki Novak here in the Young Hollywood studio with the star of Suburgatory, Rex Lee. How's it going?

Rex Lee

Hi.

Young Hollywood

You've been a busy guy.

Rex Lee

I have I Have I? In a good way, I hope. In a very good way, in a very working actor way.

Young Hollywood

There you go. So coming off entourage and I know you've talked about this before, when you are on such an iconic show and then people know you so well as Lloyd and love you, is it how was the transition for you?

Rex Lee

The first thing I I want to say is I was so tense when that show was coming to an end, like, because I wanted more work. Um, and and therefore that's why it probably seems like I was busy because I went from one show to the next. Well, sometimes that doesn't always happen for actors, too. It can it can be a long time before they sort of find something else they want to do and so it worked out. I was reading every pilot I could get my hands on. And I'm not saying that it was bad writing, but a lot of them just didn't have a role for me. And um, and I was starting to feel a little bit of despair and then I read the script for Suburgatory because they sent it to me. And they said, we want you to play this role. It's complicated. Some things got to give. The thing I love most about her movies is how sexually active the older women are. You guys were talking Nancy Myers, right?

Young Hollywood

No one who still gets their period is ever talking about Nancy Myers. We were talking about camp. We were towards the end of the season. Yes. Um, your character, I've heard, would like a little more PDA next season. Is that true?

Rex Lee

That was that's something I said to someone. I know. Yes. Well, but I I I feel bad now because, um, I went into do ADR for that episode, like my big episode, the chase and the dog and and the boyfriend. And a little make out. And a little make out. So here's the thing, when I did the ADR, they showed me an edit of of the episode where there was no PDA at all. And I was so disappointed because we had we had kissed all day.

Young Hollywood

You're like, do you know how long I made out for and then you just cut it all out of the

Rex Lee

Right. So I thought I thought it didn't make it into the final edit. And so then I told someone that I wanted more PDA next year. And then I saw the episode and the kiss was back in, and I felt so bad that I'd complained.

Young Hollywood

Again, I don't want to take credit, but that was all me. So let's talk about Glee, and there's been so much talk about this, because Perez Hilton and Lindsay Lohan were your co-stars. How did that whole thing come about? Cuz pretty much there are major, major actors that have begged to be on that show and not got a role.

Rex Lee

My manager called me and he said there's there's this there's a possibility that you can be on Glee. And I said, great, I love that show, and I would love to be on Glee. Yeah. And a couple hours later, he called me back and he said, it's it's a done deal. You you are going to be on Glee. And um, you know, in the first phone call, he said, he said the words Lindsay Lohan and Perez Hilton. And I thought, well, that that's really interesting. And um,

Young Hollywood

What a trio you must make.

Rex Lee

It was interesting.

Young Hollywood

Did you know Perez Hilton before you shot it?

Rex Lee

Sure, we've met.

Young Hollywood

Has he ever write a like written anything about you?

Rex Lee

When we first met, he would write things about me, and my um strategy sometimes when it comes to certain people is I try to be as boring as possible so that so that they don't want to write about me. And that's what happened with Perez. He stopped writing about me because he just found me too boring.

Young Hollywood

So when you meet him, you do what?

Rex Lee

When I well, when I met him, you know, he he was Perez Hilton. Right. We we commiserated a lot at work about things that weren't pleasing us.

Young Hollywood

Say no more, Rex Lee. Thank you for coming to Young Hollywood.

Rex Lee

Thanks for having me.

Young Hollywood
