Jai Courtney Brings His Guns the 'Die Hard' Show

Thanks, Oliver. Thanks for having me.

You're kind of a legend right now. You've come from A good day to Die Hard. It doesn't get much better than that, does it?

It doesn't. No.

I saw it last night and it was amazing.

Which always makes my job easier when I get to sit on the sofa and tell someone that the movie is truly amazing as opposed to Yeah, the movie was good. I really enjoyed it. Would it have been harder to lie to them?

Yeah, I'm not great at that either. Sure. Well, fortunately, we're not in that situation. Obviously, it's great, which is good. So, thank you for doing a good job and thank you movie people for making a great movie there. Um, how was that?

Uh, incredible. It was a um, you know, it was a pretty exhausting shoot. It was it was a I think about five months we were out there doing it and uh, you know, you saw it. We obviously we had to bust our arses a little bit but uh, No, it was great, man. I mean, you're playing with all these kind of big boys toys and just uh, running around running amok on a daily basis, so um, yeah, no, it wasn't hard to enjoy myself.

And and mentioning that you there were so many stunts and so many broken glass and falls and Was that you?

Uh, you know, some of the time obviously we're supported by very talented, skilled, uh, you know, stunt doubles and coordinators and that sort of stuff. So, uh, I can't take all the credit.

Well, you can take credit for the guns, you're using the guns. I'm using your own guns. Which I just pointed out. Whatever. It's got great guns in the movie. Forget the other guns, just look at Jai's guns. Um, and Bruce Willis is son. It's wild, man.

I know. Yeah, no, it's um, you know, I, you know, never in my dreams did I think that that would kind of happen but uh, you know, it was great and he was a he was a fantastic on-screen dad.

Right. And you were you were a fan of the movies, the the ones

Yeah, of course. I mean, I obviously came into it uh, you know, a little later than they they kicked off. I was pretty young when the first one came out, but um, it's the kind of film you see, you know, on a Friday night sitting down at the TV with the family and you know, it's kind of hard to switch off and um, yeah, so it's just kind of bizarre and surreal to end up in the in the, you know, a part of the franchise myself.

Right. And you, you know, before this you were The Jack Reacher Uh-huh. Tom Cruise, now to Bruce Willis.

Yeah. Probably retire at this point. Finish at the top, mate, honestly. I haven't made enough money to retire yet. Be a strong way to go out though.

Yeah. Um, you've got to play alongside them. Who who haven't you played along, you know, who would you really love to?

Oh, man. I mean, the list goes on. I mean, obviously, a big fan of kind of actors in in uh, I mean, there's a there's a ton of people I'd love to work with, I really, I don't know where to begin. Um, this is really just the the kind of beginning and I I do feel incredibly fortunate to have uh, you know, been able to go toe to toe with some of these guys.

Good, safe answer.

Very safe. Because if you miss someone off the list, might take it personally.

Exactly. Yeah. Spartacus, which was your first, you know, big old deal. Yeah. Um, we got a few of them in here. Viva Bianca, uh, I've been there. Sure. Do you keep in contact with any of the old cast for that?

Um, yeah. I mean, look, uh, a couple of people. I mean, uh, the late Andy Whitfield was obviously a a dear friend of mine and uh, I'm still very close with his family and that show was fantastic. I mean, that really, uh, kind of affirmed for me that, uh, you know, the ambition to kind of, you know, take uh, the the international thing a little more seriously and I I learned a lot from him and the guys working on that and people that had experience out here and um, you know, I really had no idea. If it wasn't for that show, I probably wouldn't have, you know, never got on a plane and and come to LA and

And now you're getting to do movies where you get to keep your clothes on.

Fortunately, yeah. Which is always good.
