What's going on, guys? Hanging with me right now. I have Jay Park. What's up?
What's good, y'all? How y'all doing?
You had a show last night, right?
I did. I had a little pop-up show in K-Town, uh, with the title and Fcom via Fitch. I'm also a little jet lagged to be honest. Yeah. 'Cause I just got in like a couple days ago.
Where were you coming from?
Korea.
Oh, really? Wow. That's so cool. Well, you're originally from Seattle, right?
Yeah, yeah. From Seattle and then uh, moved here when I was like 18.
Okay. How are you liking LA?
LA, LA's always. I mean, I, you know, I've been to LA like 900 times, but like a lot of times. Yes. So, I mean the weather is always nice. This is a place called Sweet Chick I like to go to. It's chicken and waffles place.
Oh, that's here in LA. I think I've been there before.
Yeah, they have it in New York. They have it in LA and so every time I come to the States, that's what I look forward to the most.
I know exactly what you're talking about. They have like cheesy mashed potatoes or something, right?
Yeah, they got it. It's super southern.
Yeah, it's so good. Another thing I want to bring up. I'm half Korean, so let's high-five it.
Oh, are you?
You didn't know that, did you?
I did not.
Yeah, I am. Oh. Wow. Let's talk about your music, 'cause we are definitely here for that today. So, congratulations on your latest EP Ask Bout Me.
Thank you. Thank you, thank you.
How does it feel to have it out?
I was born and raised in the States, so to finally kind of like, you know, be under Roc Nation and and put out an EP under like all English. Yeah. Felt felt pretty good. Yeah.
Well, you have a song Soju Yeah. that I want to bring up featuring 2 Chainz, right? Do you drink Soju? I know what it is. Oh, okay. So, how would you describe it to the people watching that have never had it?
If Japanese people have Sake, if Russians have Vodka, Korean people have Soju, so.
That's a good way to explain it. Yeah, definitely. You're supposed to not pour it for yourself or something, right?
The tradition is, it's bad luck if you pour it for yourself.
Got it. Yeah. Okay, so my next question is, did you pour it for Halsey? 'Cause I saw your Instagram photo with her. You guys were drinking it.
Oh, yeah. No, definitely, yeah, definitely poured it for Halsey. Yeah. Halsey is super super cool. Like, yeah, yeah. I didn't expect it, but she was super down to earth. I went to her show, very, very talented. Yeah. Sweet girl.
Would you guys ever collab?
I I would definitely collab. I don't know if she'd collab with me. I would definitely collab.
So, what other artists would you want to collab with like besides Halsey? Just anyone on your radar right now?
Yeah, I mean anybody who's down to work, anybody who's talented. But of course like to, you know, it's it's being under Roc Nation like the dream, you know, to get a verse from Hov would be like the dream.
Well, I do want to congratulate you on being the first Asian artist to Roc Nation. Signed to Roc Nation. It's amazing.
Thank you. I appreciate it. Yeah, yeah.
For people who don't know, it's Jay-Z's label. So, did he give you any advice?
Uh, no. I I I I've only spoken to him very, very briefly. It was like two words. He was like, he was like, thank you for trusting in us and then that was it.
Really? Well, what does that mean to you being like the first Asian artist signed? That's huge. You just made history. So, Yeah. Yeah. super cool.
Uh, I mean, it's definitely a an honor. You know, I I definitely don't take it for granted. I don't take it lightly. Uh, it's a lot of pressure though, you know? Just because it's kind of like, whatever I do, they look at automatically look at Asian rappers or Asians as oh, you know, they're this, this. So, it's kind of like everything I do, it has to be very planned out, I guess.
Right. Yeah. But that's cool, 'cause now artists are gonna be watching you and what you do. So, it's amazing.
Yeah, you know, it's it's it's a it's a gift and a curse. Basically, it's a gift and a curse. Yeah.
Well, because it is your first time here in studio, we thought it'd be really fun if we could play a little game of first with you real quick. Okay. Just some quick questions and all you have to do is answer them. Pretty easy, right?
Okay, cool. Yeah, let's do it.
All right, here we go. First celeb crush.
If I'm not mistaken, I think it was Britney Spears.
That's a good one.
Yeah, it was like when I was in the sixth grade. She came out with uh, Oops I Did It Again.
Mhm. First paranormal experience if you've ever had one.
What do they call it when you sleep and your your mind is awake, but your body is not awake.
That's sleep paralysis. It's really scary.
It is. Yeah. Is is that like a paranormal?
Yeah, I would say so.
Okay. Okay, yeah. I I had that like often when I was younger.
Oh, that's so interesting. Well, I'm glad that you're still alive, 'cause Can you die from that? I don't know. I hope not. Oh, lord. Okay, first kiss or date story.
I think it was when I was in high school. Yeah. Freshman year. I think I practiced on my hand and stuff like just
You actually did that.
Yeah, just because like you see it in movies and like sitcoms and stuff and you're just kind of like, uh, and then and then you kind of like try to play it out in your head and it does not go as planned. And like I I think I squi I was so nervous that I like squished her, like you know how you grab someone's face? I think I squished her face.
Too tight.
Yeah, really like like But other than that, it was
Well, a hand is very different than lips, so.
Yeah, it was yeah, it was not good.
Okay, last one. First impression of Young Hollywood. That's us.
It means dope. Yeah. It's dope. Yeah, it's dope. Half Korean. Korean name Nicole, very popular in the motherland. No, it's awesome. Yeah.
