What's happening, guys? I'm Molly Argu. Welcome to Young Hollywood.
What's your face up now? What's gone? It was up there. What happened? I think your face was there.
But here he is in the flesh. Hey! For those that are dying to know a bit more about The Orville. Can you tell us a bit about it and I want to know what it's like 400 years in the future because that's pretty cool.
Well, you know, lots of shows have been in the future and this, you know, Star Trek and they were they're comparing us obviously to those shows. But this is different because it's from the mind of Seth MacFarlane. It's intelligent, it's a little raunchy, it's a little inappropriate. But that's something you never seen before, which is a show Mixed with space. Mixed with space, right? What what would the future be like really 400 years? Not a stoic kind of militant let's figure this out like what if people passed gas in the future because they do, right? That's not gonna stop.
And your character has an important role for what I know. You're the navigator of the spaceship. Those are important.
I'm the helmsman, navigator, pilot. Uh that's really cool. But then there's another thing that I thought of today, which is We already have Teslas right now that can drive themselves. Okay. So really how much am I really doing 400 years from now? They probably drive themselves, right? Can you actually steer the steering wheel? Does it
No, it's uh it's really neat. And as an actor, to take you outside of the show for a second. It literally is just an iPad that doesn't work.
No way.
Well, it's just kind of colorful things popping out at you. Okay. And it's all flat and I had to kind of weirdly because I'm a nerd, figure out what does what? Like if you push what colors or what? No, nothing really works. They never really show it. But I've figured out like if I'm driving, I'm going left because there's people out there that will go Oh, he went left. He didn't look like. Last time he drove, he was going like this and yeah. Yeah, so I I took it upon upon myself to learn the whole system and what's the quantum drive and what are the engines we stall and Facebook and Twitter and all the stuff on the thing.
That's why you're so good at what you do.
Yeah.
There you go. So do you believe in aliens now that you've been into the future?
Oh, God, yeah. I Of course. It's a waste it's a waste it's a Carl Sagan, it's a waste of space if there's nobody else out there. Yeah. Yeah, I do believe in aliens.
You guys have some crazy looking characters on the show.
We do. We have a guy named Howard Berger who just sits with Seth and just designs the future, what an alien would look like, what a what a what a creature from another planet would look like, and it's really neat because I don't have that imagination, you know, and it's a bunch of guys in makeup and prosthetics two, three hours a day and it's pretty spectacular. It's like a big movie.
Wow. And mixing that with the set because I I can't visualize what this set looks like because when you see the trailer, you literally look like you're in space. Yeah. How is this
They did something, you know, Seth did a couple things on this that isn't really done anymore. He built a two-level spaceship. So when we're walking around the halls, we're walking around the hall, not just repeating a hallway, you know? Like you're literally in a spaceship. Oh, yeah. The bridge of the ship, which is us flying the ship is on a second level. You have to walk up a spiral staircase. And the bridge is exactly the we have a 180° screen that shows space for us. So when we're flying and we see planets and things whiz by, we're seeing that as well. So it really helps to kind of be practically there.
You've done lots of voiceover work, television, of course, film and music.
Wow. Look at me. That's pretty cool. Oh, boy. Yes, no, I do. I've been doing music my my whole life. I do have a a band with Yep. Russell Crowe called IGP indoor Garden Party.
How did that name come to be? I was thinking, an indoor garden party is something it's very European, and it's like because I like that.
Yeah, but because they couldn't go outside because maybe the weather, they brought it inside. Uh so we would do these concerts called Indoor Garden Parties. Uh where there's a bar on the stage and there's a little tree shrubbery. And um we just started doing the shows and when we had enough songs, we decided to do a record and he said, let's call it Indoor Garden Party.
So cool. You guys have some new music coming out as well.
We have a record that just came out called Indoor Garden Party, The Musical.
Well, to toss out the interview, you know some pretty cool people. You've done some amazing things, so I'm wondering if you could choose three people and navigate, we know you're good at that. Navigate to any place you wanted to go, where would you go and who would you go with?
I can only bring three of my friends.
Any three people you want. We'll we'll say even dead or alive.
Charlie Chaplin. Cool. My mom and my dad. I know that sounds ridiculous, but I would love them to go. And where would we go?
Yeah. Anywhere in the universe?
Why not? I'd wanna go to Vega. From the get-go. Vega. Yeah. Okay. Well, to start. Maybe maybe like maybe that's the next round of The Orville. It might be like 2,000° on the surface of Vega, but can I bring like a suit that doesn't you know get affected by Vega?
Yeah, we'll we'll plan it all out. Yeah.
Me, my mom, my dad and Charlie Chaplin on Vega. Take some Snapchats and some Instagrams.
We'll be following.
