So, I'm a little bit like the Michelin Man in the movie just to stay warm.
You went to Oxford, didn't you?
I I did. But that doesn't mean I terrible mind read. Okay. Yes, it does. But it actually does.
In the Young Hollywood studio with me, Alice Eve. Hello.
Hi.
Thank you for dropping by. I love the outfit by the way. I love the shoes. It's very very like chic. I don't know if you can see the shoes. We can We can see it. We can lift it up.
Well, yeah, there you go. Thank you.
Uh, your new movie, Before We Go, um, you star with Chris Evans, who also directed you.
He did.
How did it's his directorial debut. It is. How did he do?
He did really well. You know, we filmed it in New York, um, in the winter. It was very very cold. Yes. And uh, so we were filming at night, and he had a pretty clear vision of what he wanted to do with the movie. You know, he's been on a lot of big sets, obviously, so he knows his way around a kind of a camera, and we just had a guy that followed us around, and we froze, and then we we were allowed to go home.
like nonchalantly. You're just like, we froze.
We did. We certainly got cold out there. It was I just actually finished a movie in New York where it was the opposite. They get, you know, such extreme seasons on that coast. But it was boiling, but it it was very cold when we made this movie.
Sure, you're okay? My purse was stolen. You got like 80 bucks. How far are you going? You can't help me. So what do you want to do? You want to get a hotel room or something? Excuse me? No, not not Jesus. Not for us. For you. I'm sure that my husband will really appreciate your helping me. I think you might be missing some hardware. What is that supposed to mean? You're not wearing a wedding ring. No, I'm calling it like I see it. Go back to whatever you were doing before I came along and I ruined your night.
Not only were you battling the elements, as it were, but it was a 19-day shoot. So.
It was. I mean, that's quite common in independent film, to kind of, because the budgets are so strict, and you've got to get them done in a certain amount of time, but it was a very un-attractive way around handling the cold. We built this like vest under armor thing that had loads of little pockets that we then put like the ski heating pads in. Oh. So I'm a little bit like the Michelin Man in the movie just to stay warm, but I figured that vanity took second place to to, you know, hypothermia.
Your character, kind of going through a bit of a transition. Like a life change. Tell me what's going on with her?
Well, you know, she's, I I without giving too much away, and I don't think it is, she's gone through uh an infidelity in her marriage. Her husband's been unfaithful, and you know, marriage is I'm married now, and it's a minefield because it's like a you still have all the human problems, but there's a door of closure because you're married, and I think that she feels she has to hold that door closed, but if somebody's unfaithful to you, can you kind of live by the rules? Do you uphold the vows you made? Are you, you know, it's a very complicated question because you're so cheated on, it's such a betrayal. And she's struggling with whether to uphold her marriage vows or kind of go into the maybe the ego breakdown of being betrayed, or just the heartbreak of being betrayed.
I mean, a lot of fans know you from your role in Star Trek. That's right. Um, how what's the weirdest fan interaction you've ever had?
I mean, all fan interactions are amazing and weird, you know, to have someone be like, I like you, that you've never met is both like the biggest, coolest thing in the world, and then like the weirdest thing in the world, because you've never met them. You felt you should get to know them, and then you guiltily walk away that you haven't got to know that person. You probably want to reciprocate the like, and it's complicated, but I I I
You're like, should I take a selfie now too?
Yes. Yes. I'll I'll keep it. I'll at you on Instagram. Yes. Um, and so I don't know, the weirdest ones, I guess, you know, are ones where you you don't actually get to interact with people. When you're just kind of shaking hands on a line, or it's nice to touch, you know, if somebody's liked your work, it's an amazing thing.
Yeah, and now that you're on the social media, you know, that that distance is kind of mitigated now. You've starred with two very handsome Chrises, Chris Pine and Chris Evans. Lucky girl.
Yeah, I guess there's still Chris Hemsworth and Chris Pratt. You ought to take those off your list.
Yeah, but there are so many Chrises. Then there's Christopher Walken. Might I recommend that make that recommendation? Yeah. So you have a couple to go. But I wanted to know I have like a bag of tricks in here. It's my hidey hole. Uh, how well you know your Chrises? Oh, dear. So, I'm going to So I'm going to shoot out a couple facts, and if you could tell me if this is uh a fact about Chris Evans or about Chris Pine. Okay. Okay. So, this is not really worth anything except internet points and clout. And
Yes. And do I win anything?
We have some sparkling water for us. Oh, you can take that home. Okay. Yeah, we have like 50 of those. Um, this Chris, are you ready?
Yes.
Okay. This Chris was the model for the board game Mystery Date.
Oh. I can only imagine it's Chris Evans.
Yes! Very nice. Up to very nice.
Yes. He's into musical theater and I think Pine wouldn't do that. He's into musical theater. So he's also into modeling for board game. He probably.
Yeah, his character was named Tyler. This crossover.
Yes, there is. It's a very slim little like you know, in that Venn diagram. It's very skinny. Um, okay.
This Chris graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in English.
Fine. Nicely done. I mean, you'd know that within a day of meeting him, though. Like, where did you go to college? Those are the questions. Make it hard. I know. Now I've Yeah, I forget. I forget.
You went to Oxford, didn't you?
Yes. I I did. But that doesn't mean I mind read. Okay. Yes, it does. But it actually does. Yeah.
Uh, this Chris made his feature film debut in Princess Diaries 2 with Anne Hathaway.
Pine. You I I needed I need But that's because when we first met on, he was like, oh, so you were in a movie, She's Out of My League. And I was like,
Did he say it like that too?
Yeah. And I was like, well, Princess Diaries 2. Same thing. So, yeah, I know he was in Princess Diaries 2, which I love. And I also love She's Out of My League.
If you had to, if you're put in some life or death situation involving Chrises, and you had to save one.
Oh my God. Now, see now I've stumped her. Yes. I was hoping to stump you. But what kind of state is the world in? Oh my gosh. There's no follow-up questions allowed. Do I need like, do I need Captain America or do I need someone who can like go into space? Okay. Because I feel that Chris Evans would be good if we were staying on Earth. Okay. But I believe we need to move to Mars as a species. And so if we were having to go to Mars, I think I would take Pine.
Okay. Yes, the fate of humanity rests on on on you making that your decision. That's fine. Okay. Uh, can I take Chris Pratt?
You can. Yes. He will fight off the dinosaurs for you. Yes. Awesome.
Alice, thank you so much for dropping by.
Thanks for having me.
Come back anytime when I have some harder questions for you. Maybe some math problems or something.
I look forward to it. Okay.
