Mickey Knopek here in the Young Hollywood Studio. Stay tuned for our interview with Nicholas Hoult and Teresa Palmer, stars of the zombie horror/love story, Warm Bodies.
What am I doing with my life? I just want to connect. Why can't I connect with people? Oh right. It's 'cause I'm dead.
Great to have you both here.
Thank you for having us.
We have bells in front of you. We're gonna kick things off with a game. Okay. Are you competitive?
Yes.
Are you competitive?
I really am. I think I'd be awful at this though.
Okay, well you're playing against each other.
Oh no.
We're going to give you the name of a celebrity and you're going to tell us, ding the bell if you know the answer. You're going to tell us if they played a zombie in a movie, a vampire or a president.
Oh, golly.
First one is Bill Murray.
A zombie.
Whoa!
Yeah.
Oh yeah, it's correct.
Oh yeah.
Okay, next one. John Travolta.
Um, uh not president.
I'm just going to say president.
Yes!
Yes! What? Was he a president?
I don't know, I just made it up.
Next one. Kirsten Dunst.
Oh, um, a vampire.
Yes.
Vampire, Interview with the Vampire. That's right. Correct. It's two-one at the present moment. Next one, hands on the bells. Michael Douglas.
Oh, golly. Uh, president.
Yes.
Are you, are you dinging before you know the answer?
I think we I can't remember seeing him as a zombie.
Next one. Daniel Day-Lewis.
President.
Correct. Three-two. Next one. Nick Frost.
Oh, golly. Zombie.
Correct.
Oh, what?
Wow, you guys are like neck and neck. Gerard Butler.
What? Uh, yeah. I'm just gonna get in there. Zombie.
Vampire!
This is for, this is for the win. Michael Jackson.
Zombie.
Yes.
Oh yeah.
Oh yes.
I don't want to talk about it.
Okay. So Warm Bodies. Yeah. You play a zombie. It's a fantastic movie. Loved it. It's also like kind of, it's very touching. It's like a love story. So I have a question for you guys. What is what quality do each of you have that is most zombie-esque? And I'm going to list off a list of of zombie qualities, okay? Slouching.
Yeah. Me, definitely.
Hoarding.
Oh, definitely.
Really?
Really? Absolutely.
Cosmetics.
Yeah, like hairspray. The cosmetic drawers are all full. I have just bags of them actually in storage for some reason.
Are you a hoarder?
Same cosmetics. Non-stop.
Okay. Next quality. Don't get out much.
Oh no, I I get out. I'm quite a social butterfly.
Slow moving.
Yes. Yeah. I've been complained about that with me.
Really?
Yeah. I walk quite slowly.
Really?
Yeah. I'm a nightmare to walk anywhere with.
You're perfect to play in this film. Wearing the same outfit over and over.
Yes. I do that.
Really? How many days is like acceptable before it's like it's time to wash it?
I wash it, but when I when I get a new outfit and I'm like, oh, this is cool. This is me. This is the new me. For a week and a half. I will wear it continually. Everywhere.
And I'm guessing you know.
No. I switch it up. Yeah. Girls. Yeah, we're girl.
Last for words.
Oh, good. That's a good thing.
Changing the pants is always good.
Last for words? Yeah. Me. I'd say me. Yeah. Yeah.
And the last one, I know it doesn't apply to you, raw meat eating. Urge to eat raw meat.
Oh, wait, no, I still eat raw meat.
Do you? How are you baking?
Sushi.
I'm a vegan.
Okay, what is that? I made it up. I eat things from the sea, but then nothing else. I still eat other things, but I also just eat fish. Like just strictly seafood.
Yeah. Raw meat? Not like in an unnatural.
Yeah, like I eat it, but not like in an unnatural. Not in a cannibalistic way. Like strictly looking at people thinking, like to take a bite out of them.
Well, in the film you do, you are eating. You eat.
Yes. You eat. My boyfriend's brain. Brains.
But then you're able to sort of get into his mind and his if you guys could have sort of get into anybody's mind for a day, without the eating the brains part, whose whose sort of brain would you like to pick?
I had this question earlier and I said Henry VIII. I don't know how I feel about that answer still, but I'm gonna stick with it.
Why?
Yeah, why Henry VIII?
I just think it'd be interesting to see what their lives were like, you know, in Tudor England and just see it see it from his point of view. It's cool.
I'm like, I want to look at a family member. I'd have to like my Nana and see what she gets up to in the elderly home. She chills out.
So, New Year's, did you guys make any resolutions?
Every year, stop biting nails. Hasn't happened yet.
I didn't make any resolutions, and yeah, I'm happy.
Happy just the way he is.
I could I could pace it up a little bit. Yeah.
So you guys didn't actually know each other before you started filming?
No, we did. We met once at a dinner. Which Teresa didn't remember.
didn't remember.
Oh really?
It was very clearly. I was like, actually, we've met. Um, Teresa had no recollection of meeting me.
So what was, so how did it how did it go? The first meeting since you didn't remember?
It was at the audition, actually. It was. And it went really well. It was just one of those things where, you know, I don't do a lot in this film. I am very very still and quiet. So it's, you know, Teresa is very bubbly and fun and energetic. So it's nice to have that contrast between our characters.
I read that the director sort of, you know, it's like one of those things where you have to as an actor, you want to emote, but then you have to sort of in this case, you had to completely tone it down. And so your job was then to sort of bring the energy.
Yeah.
I was like definitely worried about how that would be on set. Like not having words to kind of bounce off, but he sort of expresses so much with his emotions and with his eyes and that I really felt like I had a a total scene partner and and it was great. He's a gifted one, this one.
Well gifted and incredible movie. I loved it. I absolutely loved it. Thank you both for coming in and I think you're gonna get some sort of prize. We'll find something for you. You can steal something from the studio. Thank you so much.
I will. Thank you.
