Welcome to younghollywood.com.
I'm going to Alaska.
Alaska?
Alaska? I'm gonna be all the way out there. Yes. In the wild.
We are here with a very talented Emil Hirsch. It's being announced tonight that you're being honored at the Palm Springs Film Festival as Rising Star.
Blow up. Blow up. Blow up. I feel really grateful for the opportunities that I've been given for them to want to do this. Very happy about it.
Where are your mom and dad?
Living their lives somewhere.
Now you are catching some Oscar buzz. Have you heard about that?
I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, so that's very exciting.
How was it working with Sean Penn?
It was great, you know, he really demands a certain level out of people. He demands their best. He can push you to really do things maybe you normally wouldn't have done before, but it's always for the best.
What was the most intense scene?
There was a scene where I worked with a grizzly bear that was pretty hairy. This big famous movie bear, 9 ft tall, 1000 pounds, and he walks up to me in the scene and then walks by me. No safety net, no nothing between us, just hoping he wasn't having a bad day.
When did you catch the acting bug?
I was like eight or eight or nine. I think I went to a drama camp over the summer and we did some Shakespeare and it was just fun.
You just wrapped on Speed Racer. How was that?
It was, we had a great time. We shot it in Berlin. Expect a pretty crazy movie out of the Wachowski brothers next summer.
A Young Hollywood, we say, it's not about age, it's about attitude. What has been your attitude to get you to where you are?
Just respect people, you know, treat people how you would like to be treated. If you want something in life, you gotta grab.
This is Emil Hirsch and you're watching Young Hollywood.
