Prom Pact's Blake Draper on Australian Proms, HSM, and Playing the Jock

It feels amazing to be here. Uh this is my first time being at a premiere of like any sort and for it to be mine is kind of cool, you know? So yeah, it's it's really, really wild for sure.

I would say so. I would say this probably is. It's like look at this. It's so cool.

It's very, very cool. Maybe filming the prom scene was cooler. Maybe not. They're a close they're a close equal for first place for sure. Yeah. Didn't go to prom. No, in Australia we are, we don't do prom. We have a little formal dance, but um I didn't go to the formal. So, so my first time being at a school dance, I guess, was on set. That was yeah. So I had a lot of fun with it. Yeah, I knew what prom was just from film. You know, so I remember like Heath Ledger going to the prom in 10 Things I Hate About You. That was kind of where I came at, uh that was my knowledge. Um so I was like kind of really, really excited to be like hopefully I'll get cast in this movie. I get to go to prom, you know, it'll be awesome. No, I'm really, really bad at basketball. Uh I I had to learn actually for this film because I have no coordination. So basketball did not come easy. Um luckily for me, my older brother is a basketballer, so he helped me out a little bit. But yeah, that was that was pretty grueling to be able to learn that, but I've lost all of it now. So if if we do a sequel, I'm going to have to relearn it. Yeah, it's cool cuz it's just different to me. Like that wasn't me at school, you know? Like I just said, I don't even know how to play basketball. So I was not the basketball captain at all. I couldn't really play sports. I wasn't really that popular. Like I was kind of kind of liked by people, I guess, but not to the level of of someone like Graham. So to be able to go on set and uh for everyone to be like, "Oh, look at him! He's walking down the halls." It was kind of it's a weird experience. It was very, very cool. Race car. Refilm the movie. It's a lot of fun, yeah. Harvard. I'm going to go with Harvard. Best friend. Yeah. High School Musical. 100% High School Musical. Back in time. Well, I kind of danced and sang in front of everyone, and I'm going to say that the dancing was less embarrassing. So, the dancing I'll go with. Ooh. Getting the ox cord can be kind of scary sometimes. You know what I mean? But I have no shame, so I'm going to be the prom DJ. Let's Dance by David Bowie. We'll keep it we'll keep it old school. We'll keep it old school.
