Welcome to Younghollywood. com. Hey guys, it's Michelle Marie coming to you from the rooftop of the Sunset Towers Hotel with Jonathan Sadowski. And you got some bling today, didn't you?
I did get some bling today. I'm very excited. I got some uh rose gold cuff links. Ooh. Yeah, if you look at these bad guys. All right. Very, very, very stoked.
Wow, those are really cool. Yeah. Brand new show that you're going to be starring on called My Dad Says, but that's not what it's really called. It's gonna be called Bleeb My Dad Says. My Dad Says. Yes. So, tell me more about the show. I know that you also star with William Shatner, the one and only. How exciting is that?
It's great. Um, William plays my father. It's about it's based on the Twitter feed, My Dad Says, that Justin Halpern started. And it's ironic. He started this Twitter feed like a year ago.
Uh-huh.
And last August, and within one month, he had, you know, over a million followers and then he had a book deal and his book's been the number one book for the last three months and now we're doing the show. But uh, I've actually played Justin in the show.
Okay.
And um, I work for a magazine, a writer. The magazine goes under. And I'm forced to move back in home with uh back home with my dad, you know, and ask him for money and stuff, which is like, I think this this uh society right now is like really thirsty for a father-son comedy as well. There's really nothing out there like that. And especially with the the whole market and stuff, you know.
Uh-huh.
Um a lot of people like in their late 20s are moving back home with their parents. It's it's it's very current, very uh, you know, current. I couldn't think of another adjective to describe it. It's very current.
It's very current. It's very current. Very modern day. Yeah. It's good. So, tell me more about the show and where it takes place.
Takes place in San Diego. Um it's me, uh William Shatner, Will Sasso, and Nicole Sullivan, both from Mad TV. Which is funny, everybody in the cast's last name starts with S too. It's really weird. People ask me how I got the role. I was like I was a shoe-in, like S. Um, yeah, it takes place in San Diego and uh it's great. Every episode, it it's about not only father and son, it's about family and it's about um you know, it's about being a man and being sensitive and it's it's really great. There's something for everybody. There's something for everybody. Now It's it's actually it's it's pretty cool to do a comedy that you actually like act do drama in as well.
Uh-huh.
I mean because I mean it's a throwback. You look at shows like All in the Family, you know, back in the day when they talk about some serious issues but they make it funny, but then there's it's also like there's some dramatic stuff going on too.
Tell me more about your Twitter interaction. Do you tweet to your fans? Do you have an account?
I do. I do. I actually, I used to follow My Dad Says, um because my I never had a Twitter account but my buddy's like they always followed it. And uh they'd always send me like the funny blurbs that, you know,
Uh-huh.
I was like this is kind of funny. And then when we did the show all the, you know, all the actors and stuff we all got Twitter and
Right. So now we all tweet. Right, you all tweet. Yes. Now, tell me more about the chemistry with you and William Shatner. I mean, it's got to be such an amazing, amazing person to work with.
It's amazing. Like we I remember you know, I met him for the first time doing the screen test for the show and and uh yeah, now it's you know, we're just we're two buddies. It's great.
Did you grow up watching him?
Oh, yeah. And my dad was a huge Star Star Trek fan too. So, yeah. I'd love Boston and he going. It was great.
Now, you know, people know you from a lot of films. You've been in many, many films and you're kind of transitioning to be into this.
Yeah, into this TV show.
No, they do. I mean, and now you're going to be on a television show. How was that transition from film to television for you?
It's funny. This is my ninth pilot. Um, and it's almost like, you know, like George Clooney. You know, he's like doing like 20 pilots. This is my ninth pilot I've done but the actually the first one that's gotten that's going going to series. So, I don't know. Very excited. Yeah. The show is great. I couldn't be on a better show.
If you can tell us more about what you're like off camera, what you like to do when you're not working, what are some hobbies that you love to do?
Um, I'm working all the time. Now I'm on hiatus.
Okay.
And I like to come to uh to Emmy parties. Like Jacob and Co. Um, I go to the gym and yeah. I just I like to hang out with my friends. We play video games or you know.
So down to Earth, this guy. I'm a big fan. That's awesome. I like you now. Because you never know, let's hug it out. You never know. I interview a lot of people, but I mean you you have a really cool demeanor. Don't change on me.
Well get some lunch after this, I don't know. Whatever.
Don't change on me, okay? It's my fans.
