Welcome to Younghollywood. com. Tonight, we're at the Peace Over Violence Humanitarian Awards, catching up with host Calista Flockhart and the stars of Brothers and Sisters.

Calista, what advice would you give to Young Hollywood viewers to get involved with this cause and help prevent violence both in and outside of the home?

Calista Flockhart

You can do something as simple as spreading the word. A lot of it is about education. We have this new program called Be Strong, which is all about empowering young girls.

Well, what we're we're trying to do here is just uh educate and promote awareness. I I mean that's what it is. It's sort of word of mouth to uh to help prevent this.

Also in the show, you've been dealing with the controversial topic also of war violence. What has been the viewer response to that?

Guest

Uh you know, we've we've gotten a lot of positive feedback from vets and and families of vets and you know, it's obviously something we're dealing with right now. Often their their story is forgotten and uh you know, I think uh that we're putting it into sort of prime time television and you know, it's uh we're doing what we can. It touches a lot of people's hearts in a lot of ways. Domestic violence and sexual abuse is completely unacceptable.

Well, I think we have such brilliant writers and they approach it in such a non-biased way. You're really seeing both sides of everything and exploring both sides of of every issue that we we talk about. The the best thing to do is to contact Piece of violence. Do you feel responsibility to the gay community in terms of, you know, portraying that character and how has the response been?

I think there's an element of responsibility and that you want to avoid cliché more than anything else and I think we have done.
