Young Hollywood

Hey guys, Leanne here for Young Hollywood. I am backstage at the Toyota Center and I am about to chat with All-Star performers, Phillip Phillips and Ellie Goulding. You're about to perform at All-Star Weekend and when you were in the studio, you told us that you, you know, sort of don't like to hear the sound of your own voice. There are some times where I just want to go Okay, that's a thing. I've heard that you don't like the sound of your own voice. Now, how does it feel coming off of a soundtrack like now and then you're about to go and to perform?

Phillip Phillips

I hate that. I don't know, it's when I'm, like I remember the first time I heard myself and it was horrifying cuz I I can't keep still. I get so nervous and I like start wanting to punch little kids and everything. So it's not very good, it's not a pleasant side. But I just I'm like, is this real? Is this real? No, yeah, no, I just I just don't even in the studio like I if it's people that I don't know there, I get a little uncomfortable. But uh I kind of move through it.

Young Hollywood

You look incredible, by the way. I mean, the jacket, the shoes, we're going to have to get those on camera because they're awesome. And I know you're always touring, but you manage to stay fit and look amazing. How do you like eat fresh on the road?

Phillip Phillips

Uh, I don't eat that good actually. Um, I try and eat as much salad as I possibly can. I just like get as much green stuff in me as I can. Um, but it's it's really hard on tour, you know, um, there's always bad food around. And sometimes there's no there isn't an opportunity to eat anything good. There's just, you know, you just you have to pick whatever's there.

Young Hollywood

You just released the music video for Gone, Gone, Gone. Can you tell me a little about putting that together and

Phillip Phillips

Yeah, well, I had they they said they wanted to, you know, get a video out for for Gone and and uh I said, all right, cool. Well they said, start thinking of ideas and and I I was. So I had this idea of, you know, having you know, old old photos or old footage of you know, families and and and everything and and that's why I told him I wanted to be I didn't want to be cheesy, you know, a cheesy love song. And and I they they they took what I had and they kind of brought it to life and and I I really like the video. I think it I think it's very nice.

Young Hollywood

So, we're here at All-Star. Are you a basketball fan? Do you have like a team that you root for?

Phillip Phillips

This is a whole new experience for me. I saw a Lakers game the other night. It was the first game I've seen. Um, I really enjoyed it. So I think I can see myself becoming a fan.

Young Hollywood

It's an honor to perform here and it's an honor you performed at Buckingham Palace. I mean, it's incredible. Did you we have to ask, did you get any tea with the Royal Family?

Phillip Phillips

Yeah, I I've been I've I actually just so happened the same week that I um performed, I went I went back and uh met the Queen and had tea and whatever. Um, I love tea. I'm a big tea fan. But they're lovely. They're all really lovely family and um it was a good night.

Young Hollywood

I just wanted to do a quick rapid fire. We're going to ask like a couple words and you're going to tell me like the first thing that comes to mind.
