What's up, guys? Leslie Robbins here for Young Hollywood, back inside the Staple Center. It is game one of the Stanley Cup Final. LA Kings versus the New York Rangers, and I am bringing you the star-studded action.
You defined hockey in Los Angeles. Well, it's nice to say, but listen, uh, these young gentlemen are all making their mark right now. They're all playing tremendous hockey. This is nothing but just positive for our sport, and it's great for youth hockey in this area.
Will Ferrell, I don't have to ask who you're rooting for today.
No, I am, I am rooting 110% for the Kings. Uh, and you know what, they after three seven-game series, they deserved to just sweep this one.
The Kings are great, and the Rangers, I love the Rangers, so it's a, it's a great matchup. I know, I'm from New York, I live in LA now. I'm kind of torn.
Right, me too. I, I love, I love the Rangers. So, but I'm, I live in LA, so I got to root for the home team.
This is quick, let's go. I miss him so much. I love interviewing my friends. You're back at Staples. Rooting for the Kings, I hope. It's quick.
Yes, I'm rooting for the Kings. The first period was out of control.
I think your playoff beard is out of control.
Mine, is it too much? Is it too much? My play, my life is in the playoffs right now. That's just, I'm gonna grow it till I look, I'm honoring Rick Rubin, that's what I'm trying to do.
Now, I have to say, I'm loving your playoff beard, Mr. Bruckheimer.
I've had it for years. So, I've had this playoff beard forever. It's not a playoff beard, it's a lack of caring beard.
Well, I know you play hockey, so does it help your game at all? To watch this up with the game of the beard.
No, the beard to play. Yeah, the beard helps my game because when I'm coming down on the ice before I fall down, the defenseman doesn't know if I'm good or not because it looks like I'm better than I am, you know? And the gray makes it look like I'm older than I am, so I try to surprise them a little bit.
And how does it work out for you?
Terribly, I fall.
Where's your playoff beard? You shaved, it looks like.
I don't, I don't need to grow a playoff beard. Uh, because I have other parts of my body that have a quote-unquote beard-like growth that I can't reveal. Yeah, so, trust me, I have a playoff beard, you just can't see it.
Okay, Kings, Ducks, Capitals now. How's it going? How's Washington?
Well, I'm in LA right now. Washington, we didn't make the playoffs, so now I'm looking for a job again. So, the way you're hosting this, I might be able to take over for you.
Well, let's see how you do. Take it.
How long have you been looking for Young Hollywood? See, you already screwed up. You're supposed to put the mic to you to ask the question.
You're right. You're very quick. If you think about it, the teams in California are now, you know, between San Jose and Anaheim and LA, it's uh, whoa. Just walk right through the shot. Excuse me? Yeah, anybody else? Okay, so let's test your hockey knowledge. We got the Rangers. They're one of the six original. Give me the other five.
Boston, Montreal, Toronto. Now, I'm going to get in trouble. Toronto. Um. Um. We got the Rangers. Yes, I know. Boston, Montreal, Toronto, Detroit. Uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, Philadelphia. Ah! Montreal, Toronto, Chicago, Boston, Detroit. He did it!
Now, they have to play so many games against the Rangers, the Kings do. If you were the coach, what would you say to them to keep their strategy fresh?
Well, you know what, at this point in time, the enthusiasm and the excitement level on all the players is so high that that's the least amount of the coaches worries. Uh, these guys will be hiring to cape right now with enthusiasm. So, you're going to see an emotional, physical, strong hockey game tonight.
Great. How do they keep their strategy fresh each game?
Um, I don't, I don't, I think they use the same strategy. I just don't think they bathe. Yeah, that's your, you know, it's not anything tactically they do different, they just don't shower. So, the opponent is so repulsed by being next to them that they'll just skate away.
