Ron Artest is a "Champion"

We're here at the MHL party celebrating the new issue. I know that you guys are really close, so tell me more about what brought you out tonight.

Definitely want to come out. Uh-huh. And um, you know, just support and uh, definitely, you know, there's people that can't make you gotta take care of them also, you know. So it was great. You have a chance to party. I don't get a chance to do my song tonight. Of course. I know. So it's gonna be fun.

The last time I saw you was at the Sports Patakiro event and you were telling me about how you didn't even know you were gonna be in the Lakers yet. And now look at you, a year later you are a World Champion. Tell me how has your life changed in just the past week.

The past week's been crazy because you know, you win a championship. And first of all you just, you thank God. You thank God for winning the championship. And then the fans in LA are so appreciative of how I played. It's kind of overwhelming, you know, a little bit. But we we're enjoying the ride. We're enjoying the ride. Of course. Yeah. Woo! Yeah.

We you you've charmed everybody, especially with your interview right after the game. You thanked your psyche-like psychiatrist. You talked about your single. What was it about her your psychiatrist that really think you made you win?

She's actually a psychologist, not a psychiatrist. So it was like a little different. But Oh, it's a psychiatrist. I said it. It was like I said psychiatrist. I guess she called me that same day and said, hey, I'm not a psychiatrist. I'm a psychologist. I was like, okay, now I know. But um, she just talked to me, helped me relax through pressure moments. I think once you dig down deep into yourself and you figure out what's the real problem, you just you just hit those issues. Yeah. And you know, kind of just gives you to somebody to talk to. Yeah. And um, actually my wife wanted to talk to me. She did. But I said, I need my doctor. I said, I need my doctor, but it's all good.

Tell me more about, you know, the three-point shot that you made. Kobe said like, if it wasn't for you, we wouldn't have won. How does that make you feel?

Well, Kobe passed the ball, he was a team player. And it wasn't for Kobe, I would not have had a ring. You know, that's the first thing. Without Kobe, I don't have a championship. And I thank him so much. I thank Pal, gasol. I always mention Kobe first cuz I love Kobe. But um, I love my whole team and they all know that. Yeah. Yeah. I play real hard for my team. Uh-huh. But without them, I don't have a ring. Without them, I don't have no ring.

What kind of shampoo does Pow use? You gotta tell me.

Pow uses like Pert Plus. Me too. I got I got that good hair. I use you know, I use that Pert Plus. Is it?

You're now a worldwide superstar. Now how do you feel about the response? The fans are going nuts over you.

Yeah. I mean I feel as a blessing to have a chance to play ball and have a chance to get across what I'm trying to get across, which is the music, which is the psychologist. Cuz I'm trying to also let people know, you know, anytime you have a problem, you you should have somebody to talk to. If you don't have nobody to talk to in your life, you know, hopefully somebody can find you to have somebody to talk to. And mainly for the youth, you know, who don't really know themselves, who can't find themselves. Sometimes the father's not around. Yeah. And they have no guidance, you know, so it's always good when you have somebody to talk to, so I'm pushing that hard.

Now, I have to say I know that, you know, music is a really big push right now. And so tell me more about how you worked with Dr. Dre.

I was in the studio after the championship and I worked with Dr. Dre on something else. Okay, ooh. But one day hopefully I could finish this song with Dr. Dre. Yeah. And that'll be a blessing. But um, it was a blessing just being in the studio and seeing how much of a perfectionist he is. I'm in a sandwich for the champions for those who ain't going home night stand. never for nothing. I'm in the spot light when you turn the lights down. only a chance stronger hardest in the ground. for the champion. No, I would never lose. And I would never let you lose. My artist from China. How did you guys come together?

Well, I met Shinshin in China and she was performing at Suzie Wong. Uh-huh. And I I thought it was amazing how beautiful her voice was. And you know, she's actually from China, so I was like, I didn't know that she can really sing in English. I thought she was just playing a little bit. Right. Now I listened more. I was like, wow, you know, I got I got to have her, you know, I got to sign her to America cuz I got to show everybody I got to show everybody how how beautiful she is and how beautiful her voice is.
