Hey, what's up guys? We're hanging out in the Young Hollywood studio with David Ajala.
Great pronunciation.
Okay, so that was a 10.
Yeah.
And you embraced the season in the flavor.
Sounds better when you say it though, you say it. Ajala.
What? I'm I'm like, I'm authentic. I'm teaching you the authenticity. So that was a nine.
It sounds like a a nice product you can buy.
Yeah, why not? Yeah, you give it a nice little ring to it. 2019. Ajala. That was good. Yeah? I like that version. So, okay, that's good. I got that right. You were drinking your water, which is talking about you've been working out.
I have.
I can tell.
I have. Thank you.
It looks good and you've been drinking what, half your body weight in water?
Nearly. I'm about to try and poison myself. To see.
Yeah, so that's good cuz I've been working out too. Um you can't tell.
No, I can see the guns.
But I need to drink the water. Man, look at those swole ones. Those are some serious swole ones.
Yeah. We're working on it.
Um I was told when you came in here, I'm so awkward. I'm sorry, everybody. We'll cut that out.
Don't, don't, don't, don't. Please. Do not, definitely do not cut that out.
I was told when you came in here to ask about your shirt. Can we talk about this? What does it mean? What is it about?
Oh, yes. Oh, this, this is um, so I'm currently working on Supergirl at the moment. The fans of the show have been really kind. Really, really kind and supportive. One individual, an artist. He created this design, this logo. And he said, David, this is my gift to you. I hope you like it. I said, dude, that's amazing. I do like it. It's cool, right?
Yeah. So that's cool. So you're doing Supergirl which is an amazing show right now. And then Nightflyers.
Mhm.
So you're on two hit shows.
I know, right? That's pretty cool. I'm very greedy.
That's very awesome.
I'm very, very greedy.
How did you get into acting? Your parents are actors too, right?
No, do you know, on Wikipedia, there's I don't know, someone you want to attention to. They're not. My parents are so far from being actors, it's it's ridiculous.
I guess I googled that and that's what they said.
they lie to you.
And you've done a lot of theater and stuff like that too. So that's cool.
That's my background. That's amazing. Love theater. I went to drama school for a couple of years. Did a lot of theater. We do a lot of theater in the UK. That's where we get our bread. Theater.
Say it again. Theater. I like the way your neck. I like the way you say it. So when you're not acting, what do you like to do for fun? How do you unwind?
Dance. I love dancing. I used to dance back in the day. Used to do street dance. Yeah. Body popping. And um, I still do it on set. I'm I'm that really annoying guy actor on set that in between takes, I dance. So I may be doing like body popping or just but first it starts off subtle, you know, just in the shoulders. Then the hips start going, then the head starts going, then the chest, and then it's a shimmy, and then it's just like that. Like, just.
Oh, you seasoned.
Just like that. A little. Just a tiny bit. That's fine.
Okay, so you dance, you work out.
I love dance. Dance and working out. And I just find with acting, acting is a wonderful profession. I'm very grateful to be in it. But um, it's important to look after myself. And the better I am in my body, soul, and spirit, the better the work is. So I always encourage people who pursue acting or who are artists to make sure that you have hobbies which you can embrace and enjoy.
Sure.
You know.
Because you're probably super busy right now with Nightflyers starting up and just being on that show.
Yeah. I didn't know it's from the same guy that did Game of Thrones.
Yeah, yeah. Hello, that's awesome.
Hello. That's so cool. George R R Martin.
Yeah, indeed. So, on your Instagram, you just started watching Game of Thrones this year, right?
That literally. Yeah. I was watching it last year, but because of working and filming stuff, I I just found it hard to just commit to it and watch it. So it's taken me 10 months to watch it.
And you finished it.
Yes. I'm up to season end of season seven.
And your character on this show now, you're the captain of a ship who's also a hologram.
Yeah. Crazy, right?
That's cool.
How am I a captain of a frigging ship? I just I mean, sure you're a question of ship, you know. Cuz I I have to speak a lot of space jargon and sound like I know what I'm talking about. You know, which.
It's gotta be fun.
It's fun. It is fun. I love playing characters that are just far removed from myself, cuz it's almost like I have to jump on a springboard to get there. You know, and in that experience of jumping off of a springboard to get to the character, it can be quite a cathartic experience. So I dig it.
Last question before we end the segment. I should have asked this at the beginning cuz we could talk for hours about this. But the show is about astronauts seeking out alien life. That's right. I have to ask you, do you believe in aliens?
And Hamlet says, there are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than dreamt of in your philosophy. And I believe there are just many things in this world that we just don't know of. And I think it's a lot more exciting to believe that there may be aliens in outer space than to not believe that there are aliens.
There could be something out there. There really could be. I don't know why my voice just went super.
Cuz we're we want the aliens to hear us. I mean, it's crazy. That's what it is. Subconsciously. I could be listening. Yeah. Spying on us.
Google if aliens are real. You'll really have a long night. I just started doing that. A lot of reading. I can believe that. I knew I was going to ask you that question. I was like, wow, there's a lot of information out there. I can believe that. Yeah. I can believe that. Well, good to know. Thank you so much for coming in. Congrats on your show.
You are so welcome. Thank you so much. Thank you. Appreciate it. And say say my name again. Ajala. Yeah.
Yes. That sounded so naughty. Say my name. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. Mary Kate. Say my name.
