Welcome to YoungHollywood. com. What's up, guys? It's Michelle Marie with Young Hollywood. We are here backstage at Fuel TV's The Daily Habit with Cypress Hill with Sen Dog and B Real, the one and only. Guys are here getting ready to go on stage. What is your pre-ritual before you do go on stage?

We go in the room and box for five minutes.

Yeah. Guys punch each other?

We spar it out, you know. No, basically for any performance, we always get together and and have a quick prayer and that's we do every show we do that, you know, regardless of what.

Tripping in the big city. The American dream that's calling me in the streets and quit. Everywhere I turn, I'm on a mission for mo, but I ain't selling my soul for the dough. That's no. I'm on a one way right to the top. I'm hitting the strip, I gotta say that or I'll get blocked. I'm in the fast lane and I don't stop. You ain't nothing but talk. Couldn't hang on the boat. This life that I live, but it ain't for the weak. I'm a rowdy ass gangster that came up in the street.

your sound and your style, it appeals to so many audiences, which is really, really cool. And you guys have explored different sounds like the psychedelic sound, the darker side, and what are we going to expect with Rise Up?

With Rise Up, we we went in there with the, you know, the idea that we didn't really want to do any kind of conceptual record. Let's just make music that feels good to us and therefore there's a whole bunch of different like feels to it. They're all good feels, but they're different.

Call me Danny, while child from the aisle. I can go from like old fashion country mind. Still, La. I'm straight. I'm in up to just like they going to play the and I'm a. At times aggressive, at times funky with it, you know what I mean. At times you just got your head to listen to. Um there's a song that be real did with Everlast. What's that song called?

Take My Pain Away.

Take My Pain Away. That's one of those songs where you just like like listen to the the message that he's coming with. It's really deep, you know what I mean and the music is is is right along with it. So we just try to go ahead and and come up with new feels and and new ideas, you know what I mean that feel good to us and then we feel if it feels good to us, it's going to, you know, in turn feel good to the the fans that are going to be listening to it, you know.

And now you guys are collaborating with some really big names on the album. Can you tell us more about that?

Daron Malakian of System of a Down and uh that that track is bananas. Oh yeah. Yeah. I mean they're they're all bananas but that one was really crazy. Mike Shinoda also produced something for us and and uh he actually sung on the song which was great. Tom Morello produced two songs for us, which was big cuz we've been wanting to work with Tom for a long time. We've known him forever.

You guys have been in the game for so long and you guys are staples of the West Coast Hip Hop. It's hard because over the years you have to always be challenged to reinvent your sound or always stay relevant.

When we do our albums, we look at everything that we did previously, throw that out right out the window because, you know, we don't want to get caught up in in giving the same type of sound every time. A lot of the producers who who went after were fans of Cypress. They understood who we are, what we are, what we're trying to do. And we we told them, hey, look, we don't want you to make a Cypress Hill sounding song. We want you to make something that you feel we would sound good on. Not something that like is like a throwback to our old sound. And fortunately, they got that.

You're label mates with Snoop Dogg and you guys have been working with him over the years. How do you feel about, you know, the way that he's evolved, you know, as an artist and and just as a as a mogul in general over the years?

He Snoop Dogg is crazy cuz he totally gets it. I mean, he got he got the whole picture, the grand scheme of things very young when he first came in. And he's done a real good job of, you know, staying in the public's eye and always being, you know, the big boss dog. And now in the position where he's in now with the EMI priority where he was able to actually sign us and you know, now it's like he's really like the big boss.

Yeah, he is. For real.

Your audience wants to know what you guys are listening to right now. So what MCs right now are you most excited about?

The latest record I got and been listening to is Slayer. Really? Yeah. Pretty hardcore.

Hip Hop. For real. I've been listening to JAELE. He's really tight. Um Murs. He's really dope. Raekwon's new album is ridiculous. Ghostface, Jay-Z, some of the Jay-Z stuff that's been coming out. That's one that's like stayed in the game and relevant over the years, too. Jay-Z. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. He knows what he's doing. He's one of my favorites. Him and Eminem are like my top favorite because they always manage to do something different, push the envelope and they really don't care what anybody thinks.
