How is your Sunday going so far?

Charly Jordan

My Sunday is really great. It's a little bit gloomy here in LA, so it's overcast, and it's kind of moody right now. That's why I'm like by the window. Um, just chilling. I woke up this morning, got some breakfast and it's just been a nice Sunday. Kind of I like to have the Sundays and like the weekends be a little bit more chill.

Young Hollywood

Definitely. And um, what has been, how have you been keeping, you think, the most busy over the past few months? Besides like creating content. Like, what do you usually find yourself doing to pass the time?

Charly Jordan

Well, what was really exciting is I got to move into the Clubhouse a couple months ago. So I typically make travel videos for a living, but obviously, as we all know, um you can't travel as much with quarantine. So I kind of had to switch it up and I've been friends with Daisy and Kenzie and they kind of talked to me about moving into the content house and it's not really something that like I ever did, but I was open to trying it especially with everything going on. So, living in this house has been such a blessing because I've gotten to still be surrounded with people that I can create with all the time. Um, it's not the content that I'm used to making, but it's been really cool getting to know everybody and like learning different styles of content like TikTok.

Young Hollywood

Right. Would you say that the for the Clubhouse, the like general like area where it's like all the TikToks are made is right there in the living room?

Charly Jordan

Yeah. That's where all the group TikToks are made, but all of us also have our individual um social medias obviously. So we kind of come together like for a couple hours a day in that living room to make TikToks together. And then we're filming and shooting throughout the rest of the house pretty much all day.

Young Hollywood

Yeah, for sure. And how does it work if you want to all make a TikTok together or something, do you kind of just go to living room and be like, yo, let's like make a TikTok or does it just happen? Like what's the vibe like?

Charly Jordan

So when we're all trying to do group ones, we have like set times on Monday that we come together for a couple hours, um, but a lot of times like different groups of people will just be hanging out in the house. So we try to keep the content organic. Um, that's, you know, I think when it turns out the best. So people will just be hanging out with each other and we're all friends with each other in the house so we're always doing something and just hanging out and trying to make the best of the situation.

Young Hollywood

Yeah, for sure. And who would you say that usually is the one in the living room, oh my God. I mean the dog everywhere. I was like. That's your parents from Daisy. Say hello. What does he? Hi, Daisy. Love it. Who would you say is usually always in the living room that's kinda just like lingering, waiting to make a TikTok with everybody?

Charly Jordan

You know, it's funny cuz I don't, I think it's probably Chace Keith. Um, he's a little bit more straight TikTok. Um, I come from like an Instagram background and so does Kenzie. She comes from more YouTube and like we all sort of have different like realms of social media that we specialize in, which is really cool. Um, but Chace is definitely the creative. He loves doing skits, um, TikTok skits are like his thing. He's so funny. If you haven't checked out his stuff, definitely go check it out.

Young Hollywood

So for your Instagram pics that you're taking around the Clubhouse and everything, who's usually taking them for you?

Charly Jordan

So, I've traveled with the same photographer/videographer for the past like year. Um and his name is Pearson. He's also one of my best friends. And I love creating with him cuz we're also best friends. So we always kind of have like the same vision, the same creative outlook. Um, you know, he's a huge part of helping me create everything that I need because I used to do it all on my own, but as I got busier, it's like really hard to spend time on a screen editing for a really long time. And to just be able to like have my creative ideas and then have someone who can help me bring those to life is really, really cool. And uh, yeah, he actually lives here and he helps shoot content for everybody.

Young Hollywood

Did he move in when like you moved in or it was like.

Charly Jordan

I moved in and like tested it out for a week and then I was like, yo, it's good. I was like, come move in. Come on in.

Young Hollywood

How many rooms, would you say, total are there if you can say it?

Charly Jordan

How many what?

Young Hollywood

Rooms are there total in that house?

Charly Jordan

I'd say there's like seven rooms. I think total, seven to eight rooms total. Um it's a pretty big house. So, we have some people that have individual rooms for themselves, some people that share rooms and then there's obviously like a lot of space, you know. People sometimes crash on the couches. Like it's very homey and uh, you know, people bring their families over here all the time. Like Daisy's mom cooks for us, um, once or twice a week. And it's like we have dogs running around everywhere and it's it's very uh, homey.

Young Hollywood

And what would you say your personal favorite part of the house is?

Charly Jordan

Ooh. I really like the roof. I like my room, but the roof is just perfect for like sunsets and then there's this like swing that's out in the backyard. I really like spending time outside and I lived in Santa Monica for this past year in an apartment and I'm so used to like being outside it kinda made me claustrophobic so being in this house where I can go, like there's so many plants and trees and everything around. It's so nice. I just go on the roof at sunset. And uh, it's like 15 minutes a day where I can just like chill.

Young Hollywood

Would you say that sometimes it's hard to maintain, like some days you just want to wake up and make a TikTok and then some days you just know you need to focus on Instagram.

Charly Jordan

You know, it's honestly like, I don't know, content creation comes pretty naturally to me. I love taking pictures and making videos. Like, I don't know, TikTok is a whole different world than Instagram. Like it's so such a younger audience and it's uh, you know, a lot of skits, it reminds me of Vine. Like how Vine used to be. Like, I've been doing this for I think four or five years now and it's really cool to see like how social media changes over time and what apps and like things come into actually being popular because it's so random.

Young Hollywood

It's so random. Like and like you said, TikTok is literally a world. Like I swear. Like it's like a different world. It's crazy.

Charly Jordan

It is a world. And then, I don't know, like cuz at first it was like, I mean people used to talk crap about TikTok. Right.

Young Hollywood

Yeah, like I would have gotten killed in high school if I like was making TikToks.

Charly Jordan

But now it's like it's so cool to see it change because that's how I was with Instagram. Like when I first started Instagram, people would make fun of me for, I think I got made fun of for like two years in high school cuz I was uploading like more than twice a week. Right. And people were like at night at 8 p. m. in high school were like the prime and that's the only time you could upload. Exactly. And then like people were so like stingy about it. Now, you know, I post it every single day I think for the past two years. It's like a full-time job. It's so, it's so cool. Like, you know, I feel really lucky and grateful to be a part of this generation because like even just our parents' generations didn't have access to any of this stuff or have the opportunity to like have a full-blown career off of the internet and like being able to be yourself and share parts of yourself, which is so cool.

Young Hollywood

That's true. And when you're doing your TikTok, the ones that you're just like dancing in. How long, how many tries do you think it takes you to get like the one you're gonna post?

Charly Jordan

So, when I first started, it would take me like very long. Like 30 to 40 minutes to do one video. But now I've learned, I was actually teaching Daisy how to dance yesterday. TikTok is kinda like the same 15 dance moves in different orders. So once I got the dance moves down, now I can do the videos in, you know, five to 10 minutes versus like 30 to 40 minutes. But it's just practice.

Young Hollywood

I love it. You're teaching Daisy how to do it?

Charly Jordan

Yes, YouTube video coming soon. I'm trying to teach Daisy Keech how to dance cuz she's got the Keech Peach. I'm like, if you can learn how to throw that back, you might break the internet. Daisy, we better watch out.

Young Hollywood

What would you say is your favorite TikTok dance?

Charly Jordan

I really like the new one, um, the, I don't know what you would, there's so many dances now I don't even know the names of them. But it's the purple tree what's up with this boom, you gotta go boom. That's the one I taught Daisy.

Young Hollywood

What would you say is your most embarrassing moment that you've had in the Clubhouse when you're making a TikTok?

Charly Jordan

I don't know, I haven't really had like an embarrassing moment when filming. It's more when we're like just hanging out, doing stuff.

Charly Jordan

Um, people jump from the roof all the time and you know, we're always getting, we've been together this entire quarantine. So we're like starting to go crazy. I'm like taking laps around the house. That's the most embarrassing thing about me. I get so bored and I haven't not traveled this long ever like for the past like three years. So, I just get bored and I'm like making laps around the house like an old lady. I'm just like, what's up? Like saying hi to everyone. I'm like looking in people's rooms and like what's going on in here? Like just so bored.

Young Hollywood

And who's one person that you've made a TikTok with that it was like the easiest?

Charly Jordan

The easiest. You know who's really fun? I always laugh when I'm making TikToks. I don't know why. Like every time I mess up, I think it's the funniest thing ever. So I'm always dying laughing and me and Abby have a really fun time making TikToks cuz we just mess up all the time. And always end up getting something funny. And Isaac's really fun to make uh TikToks with too just cuz he doesn't really do TikTok. And like I said, everyone does different stuff. So whenever we're making content, we're taking it seriously but not too seriously. Like it's not planned out, it's very organic. And uh, all the stuff with the Clubhouse, we try to keep it organic and like friendship-oriented. And then obviously, like I said, we have our independent platforms where we post our our work stuff. So, it's it's pretty easy to work with everybody in the house, honestly.

Young Hollywood

Sounds like a very good dynamic there. Mhm. And as soon as you post your TikTok and for your Instagram, do you like sit there and refresh to see the views, like Instagram, do you refresh or you just close out of the app? What do you do like your routine after you post?

Charly Jordan

It's like a constant battle cuz I think naturally I want to go and just like refresh, refresh. It's like, I'm from Vegas. Um, I was born and raised there. And it kinda reminds me of like a slot machine. Like, I swear, like you just are pulling it over and over and over and I have to like catch myself and I try to not um do that. So like I'll post and then I just won't look at it for like an hour cuz I used to refresh it all the time and it can be, obviously we know there's pros and cons to social media. I think that can be a little bit damaging when you're just like constantly checking and like, I like coming up with like original content and sometimes when I watch too much, I'm like, oh I should do that or do that. But if I just focus on like what's going on in in reality and try to make content based off that, sometimes it's better.

Young Hollywood

Yeah, definitely. And what would you say is your favorite filter on TikTok?

Charly Jordan

We all know the G6 filter. Um but I actually use, I don't know which one it is. I think it's the S1. My favorite one. I started using the G6 because it was like a beauty hack thing. But, um my favorite one is the first one on the landscape filters. It's like S1. It just makes everything warmer. Yeah, like and it it's like your skin, like it makes your skin orange. But the S uh one one, the landscape one is like perfect just to make the whole thing warmer cuz I, I don't know why. I think in people's minds for some reason like even using like a warm ring light is super important. Like it I think the warm colors are more like appealing to people for some reason.

Young Hollywood

And what would you say is the one place that you're very, very looking forward to going once you can travel again?

Charly Jordan

Iceland. I'm actually going to Iceland at the end of this month or like next month, at the end of July with Kenzie for a week and then we're going to Austria. So I'm really excited for that. That's gonna be insane. Pack up your tripods. Trust me. You will see the tripod in Iceland. It's gonna be uh beautiful. That's been a dream of mine for a very long time. And I also really want to see the Northern Lights. Lots of places to go, but, you know, I I think everyone's been a bit discouraged by everything that's going on with COVID. And I guess, I don't know, I've just been trying to stay focused on the positive. And I know a lot of people were affected. Everyone was affected by what happened and we've kinda become a little bit more of an isolated community. But just want to remind everyone like, you know, to stay positive and uh, it's been pretty amazing to see how like we've connected as people despite the situation that's going on. You know, even having this interview right now like is really cool. So.

Young Hollywood

That's great. I love it. Well, are you down to attempt to make a TikTok with us even though it's through the screen?

Charly Jordan

Yes. So I was looking obviously through your TikTok before the interview anyways, but um, I was thinking which one we could do. But we could do the um they like one to shoot that's on mute and then I'll set you up like next to me if you want and then we can each do it.

Young Hollywood

Yeah, yeah, let's do it. Okay. We'll try it. I love it. Okay, we'll do it one more time because it froze there the one of them.

Charly Jordan

Yeah, let's do it again. I know it's probably like so delayed on my hands. Like the audio, I'm probably like.

Young Hollywood

I think that one would be really good. Can you see it?

Charly Jordan

Yes, I can. I'm like looking at it. I love it. I'm cute. I think we kinda killed it. That was a great idea. That's so funny. I actually really want to see that like posted.
