Welcome to Young Hollywood. Kinsey here. We are at Geffen Playhouse talking to the cast of Superior Donuts. We are at the Superior Donuts truck with star Eddie Gathegi. This is a International Donut Day. It is. Yeah. Have you done anything like this before?

I've never done anything like this before and here we are. We got our play advertised on a food truck and we're handing out donuts to people who want to come out and support. The play takes place in a present-day Chicago and it's like one of the last donut shops in the city. My character comes into the donut shop for employment and I breathe new life into the donut shop.

That sounds so heartwarming.

Yes. It's kind of like a bromance.

I think you don't think I know what poets do. I think you don't think you Jesus, I'll never make. Do you think that there's gonna be a lot of law enforcement that come see this? Because of because of the donuts? Donut. Oh, that's hilarious. You're keeping out of trouble though, right? No popo's coming for you.

Who do you play in Superior Donuts?

I play Kiril Ivankin, a Russian immigrant uh new to America.

Oh.

Yeah. Brand new fresh off the boat.

And who do you play?

I play Kevin McGee who is the Irish thug that follows uh Luther's character around and I do all his dirty work for him.

Are you a tough guy in real life?

Absolutely not. Look at me. I'm all about saving Ferris. Saving Ferris Bueller since 1988.

Tell me about Superior Donuts.

Uh Superior Donuts is a play by Tracy Letts. I think it was first produced probably about three or four years ago on Broadway.

Do you think a lot of law enforcement will attend Superior Donuts?

Let's hope so. Where there are cops, there are donuts, right? Or is it the other way around? I think it's. Where there are donuts there are cops.
