Hey guys, what's up? I'm Brandy Chang for Young Hollywood. We're here in Santa Monica, California at the Think It Up event, talking to some of your favorite stars as they make their way down the red carpet.

We'd like to think that Think It Up is going to be a way for students to strengthen their relationships with their teachers because this is a platform for a student to say, you know what I want to do, you know the book that my my classmates most need, the science experiment that I want to run, here it is. And working with their teacher, they can put that up as a project, get it crowdfunded, and bring their best ideas to life.

Who inspires you the most? Like this is all about education and talking about teachers and students. Who are some of the teachers in your life, could be friends or family that really inspire you?

My mom definitely inspired me. She uh home schooled me for a couple of years so um shout out to mom. Thank you for inspiring me.

Believing that what you're doing makes you feel good and everybody else would say that's what it is. And as soon as you'll be less judged if you're trying to be somebody else's trying to do. So, I don't dance like anybody, but for some reason you think I'm a dancer. I just believe what I'm doing makes me feel good. Therefore, it's infectious and you believe the same way.

I knew when I was 14 years old that I wanted to become a TV reporter. So I knew um early on that I was going to go to a college that had a journalism program. SC had one, a very fine one, might I add. And I loved going to school there because it was not only a great program, but I was being taught by professors who worked at the LA Times or you know, KCBS, people who are still in the business. And being able to pick their brain on a daily basis, that was bigger than any education I ever thought I was going to get from going to that program.

DonorsChoose.org is a really simple way for anyone to help a classroom in need. It started at a high school in the Bronx where I was a history teacher, spending my own money on school supplies and my colleagues and I thought that there were people out there who'd want to help teachers like us if they could see where their money was going. So our site is this simple place for teachers and now students to create classroom project requests for the resources they need, the projects they want to do to bring learning to life, and then anyone can choose a project they want to support.

We need to take responsibility and be the developers and be our own cavalry and uh transform our own communities ourselves by disciplining ourselves around key fields in life that can not only allow you to, you know, look and feel jobs, but create jobs. And that is, you know, STEM, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

Oh, that's a pretty cool event to bring everybody together. You know, you have a lot of influencers, you have students, you have teachers here. It's cool that.

Yeah, no, I'm happy to be here and I'm glad they invited me. Nice. And then I have a question for all our fan girls out there. Okay. Who's your dream girl like?

A dream girl? Um a little shorter than me, um loves to cook, loves music and has a very nice smile.

Very nice smile. Hear that ladies?

Yeah, hear that ladies?

Do you feel like your style or your look has evolved over the years?

Definitely. Um I look back on like red carpets when I was like eight and I was like, whoa, so much color, so much sequins, like whoa, what was going on? I think my style has very like evolved in the way that it's a little edgier, a little darker, I tend to wear a lot of black. Um yeah, it's fun to see look back on old red carpet pictures and see how your style has changed.

What's your favorite look that you can remember in the past?

Oh gosh. Um, there's one from like the Wall-E premiere and I'm wearing like a white vest and like a pink tank top and like black and white sequins, like a headband that matched everything. I had a headband that matched all of my outfits. I had like 100 headbands when I was little. So that's one of my favorites.

Look, he's wearing a T-shirt guys and he looks so good. Like nobody can wear a T-shirt like you could wear a T-shirt.

Thank you. Thank you. I mean, yeah, just plain T-shirts, comfortable. Yeah, I like it.

Tell us a little bit about your album that's going to drop later.

Yeah, um my album, I don't know when it's going to drop, but it's coming and I just got to find the right singles for it. But like I said, I just got little songs that I'm dropping on SoundCloud and YouTube here and there, so, you know, stay tuned for those too.

I saw a video of you jumping through the street to get a cat. Was that real? Uh tell me how you

You're like, no, it was real. He's very real. It was real. It was real. I saved that cat.

I always think, do you guys bank up ideas or is it something where you're like, oh, this would be cool, like I'll do it right now or because I know that you have said that you want to be like the best entertainer ever. Okay. So for you, is it something that you build content and you cautiously think of it or is it something that you're like kind of spur of the moment?

Most of it is banked up like you said, like I could scroll through my phone right now. I have literally a thousand ideas, 1,000, 1000 ideas in my phone. Uh but some of it, you know, as you can imagine, is spur of the moment like you walking across the like, oh my God, that's hilarious. Let's shoot that right now. Uh so it's a little it's a mix of both.

So tell me a little bit about your involvement with Think It Up.

So you could think of Donors Choose as the engine under the hood of Think It Up. Think It Up is this invitation going out to America's teachers and students to come up with projects that will make learning fun, make learning vital, show how it applies to real life. And DonorsChoose.org is under the hood ensuring the integrity of this program, validating each project before it's posted, delivering the resources for each funded project, and then making sure that every donor gets photos and thank you letters from the project they chose to support.
