This is a face mask. It covers your mouth. Yeah. Not good for a host. We just can't stop talking. Hey guys, I'm Nikki Novak here with Kelly Hawk. These are your designs. Everybody knows you as an actress.
True.
But this is your line, H Crown.
Yes.
Tell me sort of how this came about.
Uh, well, basically a friend of mine, celebrity jewelry designer, Mariana Haroutunian, she designs amazing things for Lady Gaga and Madonna and Pee C.
I couldn't have guessed by this. Yeah. I mean totally. You can you can see the influence there.
Um, but I started going to her for certain custom things, and as I would wear them out, people would literally try to buy them off of me. So we kind of had the idea that maybe we should release a collection of some of the things that she's making for me.
So you're going to take us around church.
Yes.
We're going to pray, worship and all the fashion, you're going to show us all of your designs. Let's go.
Okay, go. Fashion. Let's do it. Hmm. I feel like I want to get kinky.
You are in 50 Shades of Black. I can do this, right?
I mean, I am in 50 Shades of Black, so really.
So what do you call this? This is like a collar or
This top piece is a the Henry shoulder piece. So pretty much when I was working with Mariana on the collection, I kept saying that I wanted something that could convey my overall feeling of wanting to be like Henry VIII on a Saturday. So whenever I think of Henry VIII, I think about the amazing jewelry that he would layer over his coats and jackets. So this is the Henry shoulder piece in Noir.
Oh wow. Okay, see, I thought it was a collar.
It can really be anything you want. There are no rules. I mean clearly, I have long gold fingertips. So you can do anything you want. And then this is the black corselette.
Now, the fact that you shot 50 Shades of Black, and this is all very sexy, did any inspire any or is it just a happy coincidence that it's could kind of like the theme can kind of go together?
I think it's a certain kind of person who can wear things like this casually, and it's a certain kind of person that would say yes to doing 50 Shades of Black with Marlon Wayans, getting spanked with strange objects, you know, for the sake of comedy.
When you got the call, was there any hesitation? Or did you just go full in?
I had a lot of questions. Um, I won't say that there's hesitation, but there was a lot of, you know, kind of, hmm, so how do we do it? Marlon actually hit me with stuff. By by accident. Yeah, by accident. He hit me with a few things a few times.
I can't wait to see the blooper reel from this movie because it's probably going to be even funnier than the actual film. I saw a scene. It was you guys were in an elevator. And it gets crazier and crazier, and then your tongues are fully out. That happens. You're licking each other's faces. And I thought I mean acting is acting, but still. But that's a real face and that's your real tongue licking the other actor.
That's Marlon. I mean pretty much that was the first day of filming.
Oh, was it? That's breaking the ice.
I had met him before, so I knew what to expect. Yeah. But.
He's been in our studio, and let's just say he did things to our couch that our couch hasn't gotten over yet. So.
Really?
Yeah. We got worn. We'll light on fire. But yo, check this out. What are your like three essentials that you would say girls have to have to put with your pieces? Like three.
Uh, pajamas. Okay. And you have to have a beanie. I'm going to give you the H Crown makeover. Wait right here. Okay. I wear everything. I love to wear beanies. I love really casual clothing, and I love sunglasses. So if I were to give you a quick H Crown makeover. You already have the finger palms. Do you realize that we're we're like lost like soul twins when it comes to fashion?
I felt that because you're tall. You love plaid. I love my plaid. You are not getting these sunglasses back, by the way. I feel like if I ever had like my next first date,
You totally should do that.
Should I do this and see if he can handle me? And to complete the casual look,
Anybody that puts gold chains around my face, has my heart for the rest of my life.
How many? Cuz you never think everyone puts chains around their neck, but to put it around the face.
Everything about luxury and high fashion is um pretty much geared to doing the opposite of what is common. So it's common for someone to show their whole face to everyone. So the trend of wearing large sunglasses, anything that can cover even more of the face is really is a really coveted look because it's something that not everyone can pull off. Historically, people in royal families often were excited to be as pale as possible because it showed that they were as far removed from the commoners who had to work out in the sun, and to get tans. Now everyone pays a lot of money for a tan. But back in the times
And I strive for mine. Look, you know what I mean? Everyone wants a tan, but in medieval times, the more pale you were, the more luxurious it was. Oh, I had no idea that this is what I looked like. I love it. I want to take a picture of you. Wait, where's my cell phone? I love that you're having so much fun.
I'm having so much fun. This is a face mask. It covers your mouth. Yeah. Not good for a host. We just can't stop talking.
I was wondering if if there's any sort of film or TV show or anything that you think maybe shaped you in a certain way.
You know what I really loved to watch when I was a kid? When I would So terrible. But I think it did shape me as a person. I don't know if it shaped me as an actor, but Mr. Rogers. And I was
That's why you like cardigans. I feel like I'm Anastasia Steele and you're Christian Grey right now. Oh my God! The role reversal of the century from 50 Shades of Black to 50 Shades of This plaid. Yes. Oh my God. 50 Shades of Plaid. It's been really fun. It's been really fun. Thank you so much.
