Hi, I'm Rachel Sterling, and we are at Smashbox Studios for a fabulous fashion show.
And as you can hear, party.
Now, there are some serious celebrities, models, all in all, great looking people in there.
And they're all not wearing fur.
This is a furless event.
We're going to go in there and see how the fast and furless celebrate.
L. A.' s Smashbox Studios was once again the setting for an ultra chic event.
They combined animal activism with grungy rock and roll fashion.
A huge turnout of the fashion world's tastemakers was wined and dined at the party.
While out on the red carpet, the celebrities were showing their stuff for the photographers.
At the party, you could chat with friends or you could check out some of the sexy novelties they had on display.
But the main event was the fashion show and that is what everybody was waiting for.
Did you see anything on the runway that you really just kinda have to have?
Everything was just amazing and beautiful.
A lot of plaid, a lot of uh sequins and stuff.
They had just a fabulous show.
A lot of very short mini skirts, to very hip jeans. Second guest: What I've seen at the shows, a lot of short things, a lot of see-through shirts. Second guest: It's all about sex this season. Second guest: And you know, sex sells. Second guest: And come on, we're in L. A. What's better than being naked?
So did you see anything in there that you really liked?
Um, perfume.
The perfume I think it's the new Chanel perfume.
Was it?
Or no, Clean.
Oh, Clean, Clean, just kidding.
So so what does it smell like?
It smells kind of, it was very fresh smelling and she sprayed it on me.
I don't know if you can smell it, but it smells Clean.
Do you guys call each other when you get dressed or?
We just wear all of her clothes.
We bring all of our clothes, each one of our clothes like we have a main theme and everybody's like, okay, you bring this, you bring this.
We all put it together.
We wear each other's clothes, just whatever works.
Off the runway, party guests could cut loose on the dance floor.
And at this event they were treated to a celebrity DJ set from one of the stars of That '70s Show, Danny Masterson.
But in addition to the partying, there was some consciousness raising going on.
Fur cause and organizers say has a lot of support in Hollywood.
So a lot of people into the fur free thing?
They've got um designers, you've got celebrities.
You you've got fashionable, custom fashion people, editors.
We had about 2,000 people at our last show today.
Do you guys even wear fur?
No. Second guest: No. Second guest: I don't wear any fur. Second guest: There's no point in wearing fur. Second guest: Um I mean, I'm I'm such an animal lover. Second guest: I have three pit bulls and I just, there's no point in in killing animals for the reason of of wearing it. Second guest: And it's also more expensive too. Second guest: And I can't really afford it, but I wouldn't waste my money on it anyway.
Do you think most people in Hollywood feel the same way? Second guest: I think a lot of up and coming Hollywood is a lot of pretty much believe in faux fur and uh fur free and uh but I think a lot of old Hollywood is very traditional with the the furs and the minks and everything. Second guest: And uh you know, they're really not going to probably unfortunately not move away from that.
The fur is as old as they are though. Second guest: Exactly. Second guest: Exactly.
I noticed I noticed you guys all have these like little little I'm so I'm old and out of the loop, so you gotta help me out here.
You're wearing these really cute little necklace thingies.
And what does the FF stand for?
I think it's fur free. Second guest: Fur free. Second guest: I don't think it's real because if it was, I'd be freaking out. Second guest: But it looks real.
That's what counts.
In Hollywood, those are words to live by.
