Young Hollywood

Welcome to Young Hollywood. Everyone, Nikki Novack here for Young Hollywood. We're about to go electro-sexual because tonight the Lyrical Culture runway is gonna get rocked by In Excess. Up that, up that, up that beat. Up that, up that, up that beat. Standing here with two members of In Excess. I'm so excited right now, John Ferris, and Kirk Pen.

Kirk Pen

You're having fun with this, man. You know, actually in interviews most of the time or whatever, I just go, hi, I'm Kirk.

Young Hollywood

Talk to me about the album.

Kirk Pen

Well, Original Sin is, uh, a combination of of material which In Excess, uh, re-recorded, re-imagined. Some of our greatest hits and some of our favorite songs off off, uh, different albums throughout our career. Where we invited a lot of guest singers, including Ben Harper, Rob Thomas, Tricky, Nikka Costa. Two worlds collide. And they could never tear us apart. Dream on, white boy. Dream on, black girl. And wake up to a brand new day. And, uh, some of the artists are from different countries and and singing in different languages. So, it's quite a broad sort of cultural mishmash of of In Excess material that was that was re-done by In Excess.

Young Hollywood

Sitting here with the designer of Lyrical Culture, Hannah Rochelle. How's it going?

Hannah Rochelle

Hi, nice to meet you.

Young Hollywood

Nice to meet you. Thank you so much for bringing us in to see In Excess. I'm such a huge fan.

Hannah Rochelle

I'm a huge fan too. And what's so ironic about all of this is when I started Lyrical Culture, I came up with the idea writing song lyrics on my jeans. And In Excess was recording in the studio next door to me.

Kirk Pen

Tim and I, as I recall, although Tim would probably tell you something different. But Tim and I, as I recall, uh, ran into to her, you know, in the studio and and we went we had a little chat outside. And I mentioned the idea to them and they flipped out over it. Which I think is a great idea.

John Ferris

It is a brilliant idea. You know, um, having clothes that are donned with the the lyrics of certain songs and some iconic, you know, music and and, uh, iconic artists. So, I think for us to be invited and included into this, uh, concept was a great honor.

Hannah Rochelle

The lyrics are so gritty and so raw. And it really gave us a lot of inspiration to design this collection. Uh, so every single girl that's going to be walking down the runway is depicting one of the women in In Excess's songs.

John Ferris

There's quite a few song titles of ours that can really be be sort of fit to a person, you know, like The Suicide Blonde, The Devil Inside, The Beautiful Girl.

Hannah Rochelle

Which girl am I?

John Ferris

Who are you?

Hannah Rochelle

I think I have a little bit of all of them in me. I was gonna say Beautiful Girl, but that would have been really sick. No, I like that. wouldn't it? Yeah, have a flower. Yeah.

Young Hollywood

I can't wait to see you play tonight, because thank you so much for giving me so much of your time. Fine now.
