San Diego’s annual nerdstravaganza Comic-Con is almost here, and Young Hollywood we will be there to keep you updated on every moment! The schedule for the world’s biggest pop culture event has been revealed, and just like every year, there is so much going on that it’s hard to keep track of which panels are which and what exactly will be revealed. Luckily for you, we decided to create this handy guide to keep you posted on who and what is coming to Comic-Con!
MOVIES
Compared to the TV slate, the movies coming to Comic-Con this year are fairly light. However, that doesn’t mean there's nothing to get excited about!
Marvel Studios Panel (Saturday, July 23)
Marvel is coming back to Comic-Con! While the studio has yet to say exactly what they will reveal, it’s fairly certain that Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 2 will be mentioned, alongside the upcoming Doctor Strange and Black Panther. So Chris Pratt lovers and Cumberbabes, keep an eye out for this one!
Warner Bros. Panel (Saturday, July 23)
Of course the studio behind Marvel’s rival, DC, has to make an appearance as well (and of course on the same day). Warner Bros. is certain to parade out a number of DC films, particularly the soon-to-be-released Suicide Squad, as well as reveal news on Wonder Woman and Justice League. Although they haven’t mentioned this, I am hoping that the panel will also include news on the upcoming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which, despite a few trailers and being a huge Harry Potter fan, I still feel like we know very little about.
Moana Panel (Thursday, July 21)
If Marvel is coming, then so is Disney! The directors of the film’s next animated feature, Moana, will detail how the film was made (and most likely show a scene from it). There is no word yet on if one of the biggest stars in the film, The Rock, will make an appearance, but considering how much The Rock adores his fans, I think there is a high chance he will.
Star Trek Beyond Premiere (Wednesday, July 20)
Since Star Wars is having its own celebration in London this year, Star Trek is taking over Comic-Con. The latest Star Trek film, Star Trek Beyond, will make its debut on an open-air IMAX screen, complete with a live performance of the score by the San Diego symphony. The cast and crew will mingle with the crowd (as is appropriate at a world premiere) before holding their own panel on Saturday to discuss the film in further detail.
TELEVISION
While the film slate this year is rather light, there are an enormous amount of television shows hitting Comic-Con:
Pilot Premieres (Wednesday, July 20)
“Riverdale”, “Frequency”, “Time After Time” “People of Earth”, and “Powerless” will be screened back-to-back in Ballroom 20.
“Mr. Robot” Panel (Thursday, July 21)
This surprise hit, which won a Golden Globe earlier this year and just debuted its second season, is set to reveal even more about the second season, as well as, no doubt, whether or not star Christian Slater likes being called Mr. Robot.
“Game of Thrones” Panel (Friday, July 22)
Of course the biggest television show will be held in the famed Hall H. Season 6 was quite the whirlwind, so the cast and producers will be on hand to discuss all the madness (and whether or not Jon Snow actually knows anything now that he's back from the dead).
“The Walking Dead” Panel (Friday, July 22)
The other biggest television show will also take place in Hall H (right before “Game of Thrones”). “The Walking Dead” panel will include most of the cast, who will give us a sneak peek of Season 7, including a never-before-seen trailer!
“Rick and Morty” Panel (Friday, July 22)
Adult Swim’s twisted take on Back to the Future will reveal what’s in store in Season 3 for the sociopathic Rick and his clueless grandson, Morty.
“Archer” Panel (Friday, July 22)
The world’s most dysfunctional spy team is back with a new video -- and probably explain how the show will continue after the last finale.
“Preacher” Panel (Friday, July 22)
What’s quickly becoming AMC’s next hit show is doing things a bit differently -- rather than reveal more details about the show, the cast will perform a live reading of Sunday’s episode!
“Mystery Science Theater 3000” Panel (Saturday, July 23)
Lovers of terrible films, it’s time to celebrate, because “Mystery Science Theater 3000” is back! The crew, new and old, will discuss what’s in store for the 11th season, how the Kickstarter campaign started, and some of their favorite moments from the show.
“Once Upon a Time” Panel (Saturday, July 23)
Storybrooke experienced quite the whirlwind in Season 5, so there’s no doubt that Season 6 will be as intense. The cast and crew will give a sneak peek of what’s to come.
“Supernatural” (Sunday, July 24)
It’s amazing to think that Dean and Sam are still chasing down supernatural creatures after all this time. “Supernatural” will head into its 12th season this year, and the cast and the producers will give a sneak peek of what’s to come.
“Prison Break” and “24” (Sunday, July 24)
Two of Fox’s most popular dramas from the '00s are returning for a reboot. The original cast of “Prison Break” and the new cast of “24” will detail what’s to come and what to expect.
“Sherlock” Panel (Sunday, July 24)
It’s about dang time that “Sherlock” returned! The PBS mystery drama will debut its 4th season sometime next year, and the cast and crew is sure to reveal what’s in store.
Additional Shows: “The Simpsons”, “Bob’s Burgers”, “Arrow”, “The Flash”, “Ash vs. the Evil Dead”, “The Strain”, “Teen Wolf", “The Man in the High Castle”, “Teen Titans Go!”, “Bones”, “Bates Motel”, “Vikings”, “Samurai Jack”, “Family Guy”, “Lucifer”, “Grimm”, “Gotham”, and “Supergirl”.
