Paramore is finally back with new music, and we can’t get enough! Just last week, the iconic alternative pop-punk band — comprised of lead vocalist Hayley Williams, guitarist Taylor York, and drummer Zac Farro — released their latest single “This is Why” along with the exciting announcement that they’re dropping a full length album of the same name on February 10, 2023! Paramore’s new single and upcoming album mark the band’s long-awaited return to music after a 5-year hiatus!

On the band’s Discord, Hayley Williams posted a personal note explaining the reason behind the band’s break from music, stating that the last few years have offered her and the rest of the band members an extremely necessary break. Williams wrote to fans, “Looking at our calendar for the next couple of years, I know that I would not be ready to give myself back to the band and the music and the life that I love so much had we not voluntarily given it up for a season.” She also thanked fans for their patience — and we’re just happy they’re back!

Along with the single, the band released an official music video filled with tons of heavily '60s and '70s-inspired visuals that may clue us in to what we can expect from this new album! Compared to the band’s past albums, this new single marks an updated, more mature sound from Paramore in contrast with the heavy pop-punk influence heard in After Laughter and Paramore but still has their signature edge and Hayley Williams’s unmistakable (and amazing) vocals!

At the beginning of the month, the band kicked off their Fall tour on the West Coast, continuing throughout the U.S. until mid-November! And, long-term fans were in for a treat when Paramore finally played “Misery Business” for the first time since 2018 after they took a break from performing it due to the misogynistic message of the 2007 song. Williams stated to The Guardian that she has worked on the misogyny she had "metabolized as a young girl" and felt comfortable with the band performing it again!

More tour dates are to be expected with the release of the album in February, and Paramore has already announced their South American tour starting in March 2023, so keep your eyes out for those!
