Coming "Home" with The Goo Goo Dolls
To this day, whenever I turn on the radio and hear the song "Iris," I am filled with contentment and peace, knowing that Nicolas Cage is watching over me.
Well, maybe not quite, but my point is, that hit song by The Goo Goo Dollsstill resonates heavily in hearts and minds and continues to receive some pretty respectable airplay on contemporary radio stations for a song that's twelve years old.
But it's the song that shot The Goo Goo Dolls into superstardom, finally bringing this struggling band from Buffalo, who already had five studio albums under their belt, into the mainstream. The album from which "Iris" (and their other smash hit, "Shine") sprung, Dizzy Up the Girl, went triple-Platinum, and they haven't released an album since that's achieved less than Gold.
Now, The Goos are no doubt stocking up on more fine metal polish as they get ready for the release of their ninth album, Something For the Rest of Us, later this summer. The first single off the album, "Home," was released on iTunes last week and is already joining ranks with "Iris" on the disc jockey's radar.
Also brand-spankin' new is a lovely (unofficial) video for "Home" that The Goos constructed themselves, which has begun making the viral rounds on YouTube. Check out this video and the new song below:
Yep, The Goos are back!
Something for the Rest of Usdrops August 31. "So why don't you slide" on over to Amazon and pre-order it?
