The 5 Most Anticipated Movie Releases Coming In 2021!
Due to the pandemic, closing movie theaters and causing studios to hold back on releasing movies has become a new norm. Many films were pushed back to this year and are even premiering on streaming services such as HBO Max. Now that 2021 is in full swing, movie lovers from all around (including myself) are excited about movies set to be released this year!
Here are some of the most anticipated movies of 2021:
1. No Time to Die (April 2)
Daniel Craig’s last appearance as the iconic James Bond is expected to finally hit theaters this Spring. In No Time to Die, Bond’s retirement is cut short after his old friend Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright) needs his help. In this movie, Bond’s mission is to save a kidnapped scientist and will have to confront Safin (Rami Malek), who is armed with dangerous weapons. No Time to Die also stars Ana de Armas ( Craig's co-star in Knives Out) and Lashana Lynch (Captain Marvel) as the "new" Agent 007.
2. A Quiet Place: Part II (April 23)
The highly-anticipated sequel to the 2018 horror film A Quiet Place is also slated for a Spring release. The film will continue to follow the Abbott family, played by Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe, as they try to survive in silence in a dystopian world. Despite his character dying in the first film, John Krasinki returned to direct the horror film sequel.
3. In the Heights (December 3)
The film adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s first hit musical In the Heights will debut this next Holiday season on HBO Max and in theaters. Crazy Rich Asians director Jon M. Chu will helm the musical film taking place in New York’s Dominican American neighborhood of Washington Heights. The film stars Anthony Ramos (Hamilton), Stephanie Beatriz (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine”), Melissa Barrera (“Vida”), and many more.
4. Black Widow (May 7)
After a full year without Marvel content, we will finally be able to watch the Black Widow stand-alone film. Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff is on the run following the events in Captain America: Civil War and will have to confront her life before becoming an Avenger. The film expected to debut this summer will also star Florence Pugh, David Harbour, and Rachel Weisz.
5. Dune (October)
After many push-backs, director Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of the sci-fi classic Dune will be released in theaters and on HBO Max in the Fall. The film, based on the Frank Herbert novel of the same name, includes a star-studded cast consisting of Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Oscar Issac, Rebecca Ferguson, and Jason Momoa, to name a few.
