Shay Mitchell's 'The Possession of Hannah Grace' Puts A Terrifying New Spin On The Exorcism Genre!
Halloween is approaching fast and all the demons are getting ready to wreak havoc on the living. But one devilishly demonic entity is waiting a bit longer to possess a theater near you...
Fans of levitating bodies, contortionists crawling up walls, and head-spinning storylines are in for a real treat as another exorcism makes its way into the horror genre. The terrifying ritual of removing a demon from someone has been eerily portrayed in such iconic films as The Exorcist and The Conjuring. But one question the genre has never asked is, what happens when an exorcism goes wrong? All that is about to change with The Possession of Hannah Grace. This latest entry in the world of horror cinema puts a twist on the conventional demonic possession game and shows audiences that evil doesn’t give up so easily. As the old saying goes, "If at first, you don’t succeed, try, try again."
If you weren’t already skeptical about the idea of spending a night in a morgue alone, this film will definitely rectify that. Dead bodies are already creepy, but one that was previously inhabited by a minion of Satan that suddenly snaps back and looks to fill the vacancy in your soul with pure evil is not something I, nor anyone else for that matter, wants to be locked in a small space with. Thankfully for us, that task is up to "Pretty Little Liars" star Shay Mitchell. The actress makes the jump to Scream Queen as she takes on the role of Megan Reed, a cop out of rehab for an unexplained trauma who is ready to get back to work. Unfortunately for her, this means taking on the graveyard shift at a morgue. It starts out like any other night -- until a cadaver comes in. Reed begins to see horrific visions and believes that this corpse may have a demonic presence. Little does she know that this is the corpse of one Hannah Grace, who just so happened to die as the result of a botched exorcism. The Devil does not have a return policy, and Reed is about to learn the hard way what happens when a demon needs a new vessel: It takes the next closest one.

Once titled Cadaver, Mitchell’s first film as a leading lady will take the spot once held by the highly-anticipated James Gunn film Brightburn. Hannah Grace’s possession has some pretty big shoes to fill, and we will see if it can do so, as we as see if Mitchell can join the ranks of other legendary scream queens such as Danielle Harris, Janet Leigh, Linda Blair, and Jaime Lee Curtis. The actress has come along way since her stint on the long-running ABC Family series. From avoiding "A" sinister stalker to avoiding a takeover by an evil spirit, Mitchell looks to add another solid performance to an already impressive line of work.
The Possession of Hannah Grace opens in theaters on November 30, 2018.
