5 Recipes We NEED In The "Friends" Cookbook!
This is not a drill, repeat, this is not a drill. We are getting an official “Friends” cookbook. Ladies and gentleman… start your ovens!
Aptly titled Friends: The Official Cookbook, the collection of recipes is set to hit shelves later this year, on September 22 – the anniversary of the “Friends” pilot. Written by Amanda Yee, the book will put all the best recipes of the show in one place.
Obviously Phoebe’s grandmother’s cookie recipe will be in there, along with Rachel’s Thanksgiving trifle (though you might want to proceed with caution on that one).
But the book is set to have 70 recipes in total, and beyond those two – plus Ross’s Thanksgiving leftovers sandwich, which will also be in the book – even diehard “Friends” fans struggle to pick out 70 memorable recipes from the show.
That said, we can think of at least 5 that definitely need to be on the list. Let’s break them down, shall we?
1. Rachel’s Birthday Flan
Monica caught a lot of flak for making Rachel flan for her birthday instead of a cake. But honestly? It’s original, and was probably tasty.
Now personally, yes, I’d prefer a birthday cake over a birthday flan. But on a different occasion, a good flan recipe would not be the worst thing to have in the arsenal. In fact, it’d probably impress most houseguests. Respect the flan and put it in the cookbook.
2. Monica’s Mockolate Recipes
Okay, yes, mockolate sounded disgusting on the show. No part of “this is what evil must taste like” sounds appealing. But in real life, having an alternative to chocolate can be both helpful and necessary. People do have cocoa allergies, people are lactose intolerant, and people with a gluten intolerance or celiac disease sometimes react to chocolate, especially milk chocolate. There has to be at least one tasty chocolate substitute out there, and hopefully this cookbook will reveal it.
3. Monica’s Holiday Candy
Just like we don’t want to eat something that tastes like evil, we definitely do need to have “little drops of heaven” in our life. So, this cookbook definitely needs to have the recipe for Monica’s holiday candy. There are countless recipes out there for Christmas cookies. We have enough. Homemade Christmas candies, on the other hand, are something we don’t see enough of. And odds are, making them would be a wildly fun family activity.
4. Ross’s Fajitas
Monica may have been the chef of the show, but that doesn’t mean she was the only one that ever cooked. Granted, Ross was having a bit of an emotional breakdown at the time, but he did prepare a nice meal for Charlie, Joey, and Rachel. We never actually find out if Ross’s fajitas are tasty or not, but his sister is a professional chef. He must have picked up some tricks of the trade here and there. There will likely be a lot of desserts in this “Friends” cookbook; tossing in a few recipes for an actual meal couldn’t hurt.
5. Joey’s Meatball Sub
Technically, it wasn’t one of the six Friends that made Joey’s favorite sandwich. Still, if Joey was willing to take a literal bullet to protect his meatball sub, we have to know how that tastes. Even though he only got a single bite of it, Chandler seemed to have an out-of-body experience because of this sandwich. We all need an out-of-body sandwich experience at least once in our life. We just do.
What recipes are YOU hoping with be included in the "Friends" cookbook?!
