"Orange Is The New Black" Season 7: Prepare To Say Goodbye To The Ladies of Litchfield!

Written by Maryssa Rillo. Published: July 23 2019

The sun is out, the day is new / And everyone is waiting, waiting on you / And you’ve got time / And you’ve got time...”

Guess what this means?!?! Yup, Netflix’s newest season of "Orange Is the New Black" premieres on Friday, July 26! I can hardly contain my excitement. I mean it’s not like Netflix made us wait a whole year or anything. Pfft.

Besides the fact that it’s been Summer 2018 since we got any new episodes of "Orange Is the New Black", there are a lot more reasons as to why this is such a big deal. Season 6 ended with a lot, and I mean A LOT, of unanswered questions. Like, what is going to happen to Taystee? Or what about Blanca? Will she be deported by immigration? How is Piper doing now that she is released? How is she adjusting? UGH! Come on, Netflix, how could you make us wait an entire year to find the answers to these questions?!

Alright, alright, enough of me giving Netflix a hard time. It’s okay, we forgive you… maybe. The premiere of Season 7 is actually bittersweet. Sweet, because we get to see our favorite ladies in orange again, but bitter because this is the last season of the Emmy-winning show. I repeat, LAST season. Hold on while I go to my bed and cry for a little.

Okay, I’ve wiped my tears away. On a happy note, the official trailer does tease that all of our questions will be answered. Check it out:

So, Season 6 definitely ended with a huge BANG. The season concluded by reflecting on the racial imbalances that are present in current America. Piper was granted early release while Taystee went down for a murder she did not commit, and when Blanca thought she was finally getting out of prison, she was instead directed to Immigration.

This is exactly why this season is so important! I NEED ANSWERS! Oh, and I forgot to mention, Flaca and Maritza are back! Our favorite Latina duo is back for the final season. Flaca was in the last season but we definitely missed Maitza. It’s like, who is Batman without his Robin, right? Diane Guerrero posted a video of the castmates singing along to the opening credits, and just seeing Flaca and Maritza together again for a few seconds was enough to make me excited.
