Netflix's 'Holidate' Understands Our Frustration With Being Single For The Holidays!

Written by Mary Shannon Donnelly. Published: November 16 2020

Are you in need of some holiday joy? Some good ol' Christmas cheer? Netflix’s new holiday rom-com Holidate stars Emma Roberts ("Scream Queens") as Sloane and Luke Bracey (Point Break) as her love interest Jackson. However, this movie does not outline the typical romance of boy meets girl, they fall in love, and live happily ever after. Instead, this movie represents a unique type of love story, one most of us probably won’t experience this holiday season.

Holidate tells the story of Sloane (Roberts), who is beginning to become fed up with all of the constant judgement from her family members because of the fact that she is single. Every holiday seems to be the same for her, with her family constantly rubbing her singleness in her face. This holiday season, Sloane comes up with a solution and recruits the extremely handsome, but also a complete stranger, Jackson (Bracey) to be her “holidate” this year. The two meet one particular bad Christmas and make a pact to be each other’s date to all holiday events for the next year. However, there is one catch:; the two vow to not fall in love with each other. But will that be possible the more and more time that they spend hating the holidays together?

I think we all know the answer...

Besides Emma Roberts and Luke Bracey, viewers will see some other familiar faces on the screen, including Wicked’s Kristin Chenoweth, "Stranger Things" star Jake Manley, "Grey’s Anatomy"’s Jessica Capshaw, as well as Internet sensation King Bach.

Holidate is now streaming on Netflix! So sit back, relax, and take notes, because this movie might just teach us the perfect way to find a plus-one this holiday season!
