Music Unites Foundation Announces Their 2020 Virtual Holiday Showcase!

Written by Zoe Schwartz. Published: December 01 2020

Young Hollywood is here to inform you about 2020’s Music Unites Virtual Showcase! Music Unites is a national charity with the mission to raise academic and lifetime achievement for at-risk public-school students through the support and creation of unique music education partnerships and programs. The Foundation currently provides free after-school music programs to youth through school-based partnerships, along with special monthly workshops designed in alignment with standards for career and college readiness. Their life-changing programs and events help educate and guide our youth toward planning and achieving responsible goals for their future. Music Unites also leverages student’s innate talents and elevates the next generation of performers by providing audiences, venues, and special performance opportunities, while at the same time enriching the listening experience of the public with performances from aspiring artists across a wide range of genres that exist in the increasingly diverse world of music.

Music Unites will be honoring legendary composer and arranger HB Barnum and Compton Unified School District Superintendent Darin Brawley and will be hosted by DJ Skee on Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at 6:30pm PT. The executive committee includes Jason Flom of Lava Records, who discovered Katy Perry, as well as UTA's Natalia Nastaskin, Skullcandy's Jessica Klodnicki, CEO J Erving, Shout! Factory's Richard Foos, and many more. The evening will feature performances by Ashley Yvette, Shaa.niel, Xavier Rhapsody, and Kat Cunning to celebrate music education and the holiday season. Cunning co-stars in Netflix’s Emmy Award-winning series "Trinkets", where she also debuted her hit single "Supernova".

Music Unites will honor all that the students have dedicated to music education during these unprecedented times. Right when COVID-19 hit, Aloe Blacc partnered with the students of the Music Unites Centennial Choir to send off graduating students across Compton with a custom rendition of "Wake Me Up" to serve as their official graduation song. In July, the foundation held a month-long program with over 500 students from across the country, which expanded into 6-month “MusicVersity” program that is currently teaching students about careers in the talent agency business in partnership with the UTA foundation.
