We appreciate our moms and mom figures throughout the year, bearing witness to their sacrifices and unconditional love whether we’re near or far. However, the set date of Mother’s Day is a special occasion to express your gratitude on a larger scale! It can be tough choosing something that properly illustrates how much we care (especially when moms say that they want nothing more than our happiness), but the best gifts simply involve spending time together. Here are a few ideas that will hopefully spark some inspiration and allow you to give her something unique!
The Priceless:
Create a Video
If you have home video footage available, try cutting it into a sweet montage along with photos and maybe some recent clips! The “Draw My Life” tag on YouTube could also be a great inspiration. Consider making a video on her life through your own perspective and artwork. Macaroni drawings could even work here!
Write a Blog Post
If you don’t have a blog, now is a good time to start one! Share your appreciation with the world. Or reach out to some familiar outlets to see if they’d be interested in publishing your piece!
Run Her Errands
We all know that mothers have a never-ending list of tasks to accomplish. Try secretly running some errands that have been piling up for her!
Make a Playlist
Take the day to relax! Curate a playlist of television shows, YouTube videos, films, and music to hang out with! Add in some facemasks for added relaxation.
The Experiences:
Check out the link above to find a Paint Nite in your area, where you can paint step-by-step in a group! There are also art studios that host them regularly. You could even exchange paintings at the end! This is especially nice if you don’t live together, as you can take a piece of each other’s artwork to your spaces.
Karaoke
If you’re not into getting up on stage to sing, you can always find the karaoke parlors with small rooms. Showcase your talents within the comfort of four walls!
Botanical Gardens
We refer to the Earth’s wonders as Mother Nature, so why not go with the theme? Taking a walk around flower gardens is great for health, bonding, and the inevitable social media post that everyone makes for the holiday. Any place with animals could be amazing as well!
The Gifts:
Fountain Pens
Moms are always writing notes with their consistently impeccable handwriting. Give her a pen that truly shows her style, and make it a throwback at that! This site has revitalized versions of original fountain pen designs from the late-1800s!
Etsy
We all know that Etsy has everything that moms would love. There are wooden cards, minimalist necklaces, and mugs that will reassure your mom that she’s doing great. Many prices are reasonable too!
Personal Photo Prints
Even if you don’t own a DSLR, phones are starting to take some insanely high-quality photos! Send the image to a printing company and blow it up on a canvas, pillowcase, or poster. It doesn’t necessarily have to be of you, but we’re sure moms would appreciate any stunning photo that their child took!
Happy (almost) Mother’s Day! Although I tried to think of less conventional ideas, the traditional breakfast in bed, flowers, and a spa day are also sure to bring her joy! Thank you to all the moms out there who keep us going!
