Katy Perry – “Never Really Over”

Katy Perry is taking a step forward in the right direction with this new, upbeat single. After a controversial album 2 years ago, the pop star is discovering her roots again. “Never Really Over” has all the elements you could imagine from a pop song. It is also produced by Zedd so I think that speaks for itself. Let’s be honest, Katy Perry does pop songs with surface level meanings well. Not every song has to be “deep” and I think that is why she is so loved. Yet on this single, she sings about an experience that people can actually relate to on that deeper side while still being a fun pop song.
