“Watch Out For The Big Grrrls”, available for streaming on Amazon, details Lizzo’s hunt for new background dancers, as competitors on the 8-episode show dance their way through different competitions to become part of the pop star’s entourage. This show is different from other dancing reality shows because it focuses on plus-sized women.
Lizzo has always been a staunch activist for the body positivity movement, often saying in multiple interviews that she has had to “own being fat.” She has always advocated for body positivity. "There's still so many people who suffer from being marginalized systemically,” she said in an interview. “Meanwhile, there's a plus-sized Black girl at the GRAMMYs. But plus-size Black women are still not getting the treatment they deserve in hospitals and from doctors and at work, you know what I mean? We got a long way to go."

In Episode 1, Lizzo even discusses how hard it is to find plus-sized dancers for her shows. "I've asked dance agencies for big girl dancers, and they gave me nothing," Lizzo says. "Girls that look like me simply don’t get representation. So, time to pull up my sleeves and find ‘em myself." "Big Grrrls” also helps eliminate many of the misconceptions that people have about plus-sized dancers, as contestants go through an intense boot camp and are shown working through other obstacles such as injuries. Lizzo also bonds with the finalists and even participates in some of their activities on-screen. The bond between the competitors and the genuine interest Lizzo shows in their growth makes this reality television different from other content in the genre.

Lizzo did that with Watch Out For The Big Grrrls (Amazon Prime). I'm not over it. It's an incredible show. Hope people watch it when they get a chance. It was powerful to see how she created a space of healing for all those girls.
Other than producing “Big Grrrls”, Lizzo has also been at work creating a new plus-size shapewear line called Yitty in collaboration with Fabletics. The sizing for Yitty goes from 6X to XXS (yes, items START at 6X and go down instead of the other way around), offering inclusive sizes in various patterns. Yitty is also sustainable; 65% of the pieces are made from recycled fibers, and the packaging is completely recycled. While “Big Grrls” dropped on March 25th, keep an eye out for Yitty to drop on April 12 for more inclusivity in your life!
