John Mulaney's 5 Funniest SNL Skits (So Far)!

Written by Devi Ruia. Published: February 29 2020

John Mulaney is hosting "Saturday Night Live" for the third time this weekend and we cannot be more excited.

A former staff writer for the show, Mulaney has become more popular since leaving "SNL", in part thanks to his multiple Netflix stand-up specials.

The last two times he hosted, the sketches were consistently phenomenal and we’re excited to see the sketches they’ll come up with this time around!

Until then, here’s some of his best sketches on SNL to watch to get you excited to see him host yet again tonight!

1. Diner Lobster

This "Diner Lobster" sketch is one of my personal favorite "Saturday Night Live" sketches of all time.

A Les Misérables parody performed by some of my favorite comedians? My inner high school theatre geek is screaming.

This sketch takes the truly insane idea of ordering lobster at a diner and turns it into a truly funny sketch with parodies of popular songs from the musical Les Mis. It’s incredibly funny and epic and is guaranteed to make you smile!

2. Bodega Bathroom

This sketch is a great follow-up to the "Diner Lobster" sketch.

It takes the insane idea of using the bathroom at a New York City bodega and turns it into a hilarious sketch complete with multiple musical numbers that are parodies of popular songs from musicals.

It will definitely make you laugh — and make you hopeful that they’ll do another musical sketch this weekend!

3. Weekend Update on The Mule

This "Weekend Update" sketch gives us the powerful and hilarious duo of John Mulaney and Pete Davidson.

Their IRL friendship is just as amazing as this "Weekend Update" segment, where Mulaney and Davidson have a lot of thoughts about the (truly insane sounding) movie The Mule.

Here’s hoping we get to see more of this duo tonight!

4. Chad Horror Movie

This is another sketch featuring the fabulous duo of Mulaney and Davidson.

In this sketch, Davidson reprises his classic SNL character “Chad”, who is famously non-verbose and expressionless.

Mulaney plays a typical horror movie-esque murderer, formerly bullied by Chad who wants to challenge Chad to a dangerous game.

It’s incredibly funny and further shows us how great of a duo these two are.

5. Stand-Up Monologue

This monologue is great for any fans of Mulaney’s reliably funny stand-up.

It’s a classic, hilarious set guaranteed to get you pumped for whatever monologue he delivers this weekend!
