ICYMI: "Westworld" Trailer Teases a Whole New Show With "Breaking Bad"'s Aaron Paul Leading the Charge!

It happened, people. Winter has officially come and gone. “Game of Thrones” is no more. Now that everyone's favorite series has concluded, who will now sit upon the Iron Throne of Television as the next most talked-about show? To uncover this mystery, audiences will not have to venture too far off, as the answer lies within the parameters of the Home Box Office Network. Of the many HBO series that are sure to satisfy any viewer's appetite, the one that has the best chance of becoming, dare I say, better than the adaptation of A Song of Ice and Fire is the incredibly compelling sci-fi drama “Westworld”. After 2 game-changing seasons, the show is looking to change things up in a significant way for its third chapter. Get ready to throw out your Valyrian Steel and Dragon Glass for some robots and Jesse Pinkman as “Westworld"'s latest trailer teases something entirely different then anyone has ever witnessed.

The trailer introduces us to the newest member of the cast, Aaron Paul. Paul's character is wandering through life in search of a purpose. To fill this void, we see him committing petty crimes with writer/actress Lena Waithe's new character. As this seemingly lost individual continues to search for something real to get on with his life, he runs into a very familiar face. The mysterious woman teased throughout the entire preview is finally unveiled in the final moments out of the shadows to be none other than Dolores herself.

Some may see this as a chance encounter that kicks off the new narrative, but some savvy fans like myself think there may be more than meets the eye here. Dolores is a cold-calculated strategist, as seen in the previous seasons, so this meeting may not be an accident. It's not too far-fetched to believe that Paul's apathy could stem from the fact that he could, in fact, be a host that Dolores created and is performing a similar Turing-esque test that was done on her in previous seasons. This could possibly be done to expand their numbers. I mean, anything is really possible, given how talented the writers Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan have been during their tenure with the series. Human or host, Paul is a fantastic addition to a great show that looks to be moving in the right direction.

The first 2 seasons took fans on a wild ride through the Westworld park, getting a glimpse into its dark inner workings and becoming very familiar with the individuals that inhabit the futuristic environment. The final moments of last season saw most of the hosts escaping in several ways. The majority ventured into a Cloud-based environment preserving their digital consciousness from ever being tampered with again or uploaded into a host. Dolores, played by the very talented and in my opinion terribly underrated Evan Rachel Wood, managed to escape to the mainland where she plans on making the case in a big way that her kind should inhabit the Earth and that Man's time is over. Now it seems this adventure will shift gears and viewers will be taken out of the park and into the real world. From the looks of this enticing first glimpse, “Westworld" is keeping things fresh and bringing us an entirely new world to explore, entangled with all the wonders and possibilities introduced in the prior iterations.

“Westword" returns to HBO sometime in 2020.
