ICYMI: Welcome Back to the Black Parade: My Chemical Romance Announces Reunion & Upcoming Live Shows!

Written by Pauline Woodley. Published: November 09 2019

Dig up all your band merch and black nail polish because one of the biggest bands in the emo scene is back on the grid. My Chemical Romance, the rock band famous for hits such as “Welcome to the Black Parade” and “I Don’t Love You”, is officially making a comeback.

After 7 long years apart, the band has announced that they will be performing in not one, but TWO reunion shows for their die-hard fans. The band first made their announcement on Halloween night that they would be playing one reunion show in Los Angeles on December 20 at The Shrine. After this announcement shocked the entire rock community, MCR continued to strike excitement in the hearts of their fans.

Following the Los Angeles show, My Chemical Romance also announced that they will be doing 2020 shows in Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. For all you world travelers out there, pack your bags and get ready for this cross-continental comeback tour.

As the band continues tweeting about upcoming shows and responding to the hype surrounding their comeback, fans are left wondering when, if ever, the band will release new music together. Their last single, “Fake Your Death”, was released in 2014 and deemed the band’s last song ever, though a girl can dream.

In addition to these tour dates, the band also released new merch so that avid fans can throw their 10-year-old T-shirts out. “Return” merch, as its been titled, comes in black and white colorways and has graphics that coincide with the band’s new look.

The news of this reunion comes at the perfect time in the emo scene’s history. Fall Out Boy announced earlier this year that they would be going on tour with punk legends Weezer and Green Day. These bands, that were once all the rage, are each making their own comebacks to the stage and our playlists. The black parade is marching yet again, and hopefully the band will be marching to some new tunes sooner rather than later!
