ICYMI: New Trailer for 'Mary Poppins Returns' Features All New Song!

Okay, we all know I’m super excited for the new Mary Poppins sequel to come out this winter. There’s no hiding it. I love Lin-Manuel Miranda, I love Emily Blunt, I love the story of Mary Poppins, and I just love musicals, alright? Let me live!

This week, a new teaser for Mary Poppins Returns was released, and it features a snippet of a fun little song called “Can You Imagine That?”, sung by Mary Poppins herself, Emily Blunt. Take a look:

The trailer features Mary arriving at the Banks family home, with the 3 children telling her that they don’t need a nanny, as they’ve all grown up quite a lot in the last year (due to the loss of their mother). “Well, we’ll have to see what can be done about that,” Mary retorts. She draws a bath and suddenly, a dolphin? Yes, you read that correct, a dolphin pops out of the bathtub.

One of the Banks children asks Jack (played by Lin-Manuel Miranda) how Mary Poppins does this. “One thing you should know about Mary Poppins, she never explains anything.” Truer words have never been spoken, and we’re here for it! Mary Poppins may not explain anything, but she’s giving us a whole fun world filled with magic and happiness, and we’re not mad about it AT. ALL.

At the end of the trailer, we hear “Everything is possible,” followed by Mary replying “Even the impossible.” We love having Mary Poppins back to tell us that even the things that seem the most impossible can be achieved if we believe in them hard enough. That’s the magic of everyone’s favorite nanny. We also get a few short glimpses at some of the major dance numbers (Dick Van Dyke dancing again!!!!), and it looks like this film is gonna be stunning and will have audiences smiling throughout.

The Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious film, Mary Poppins Returns, hits theaters December 19.
