ICYMI: Hollywood Besties Ben Affleck & Matt Damon Teaming Up For Historical Drama!

Written by Julia Hutchens. Published: July 28 2019

After two decades, Hollywood’s favorite BFF duo, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, are back and set to co-star in an exciting new project. The news of the 14th century tale broke out on Monday: the duo will reunite on-screen for a new film titled The Last Duel!

The upcoming project is a revenge story of 2 best friends based on a novel written by Eric Jager entitled The Last Duel: A True Story of Trial by Combat in Medieval France. Tension begins to build when one of the men, Norman knight Jean de Carrouges, returns from war and accuses the other man, squire Jacques Le Gris, of raping his wife. Amidst controversy, the soldier appeals to the King of France, who concludes that the only solution is that the 2 men fight a duel to the death. Typical boys… Obviously, Affleck, 46, and Damon, 48, have been cast as the two best friends. I’ll put my money on Affleck -- he is Batman, after all!

This major movie is coming together quickly! In addition to co-starring, the duo -- who famously won the Oscar for their screenplay for Good Will Hunting over 20 years ago -- will produce the film through their production company, Pearl Street Films, along with collaborating on the script with Nicole Holofcener, the Oscar-nominated writer of Can You Ever Forgive Me?. The movie will be directed by none other than Blade Runner’s Ridley Scott, who previously worked with Damon back in 2015 when he was directing The Martian.
