ICYMI: Kid Cudi Bringing His 'Entergalactic' Album To Netflix Animated Series!

Written by Julia Hutchens. Published: July 27 2019

Get hype, Hollywood! This isn’t something we see every day… Rapping sensation Kid Cudi has teamed up with "Black-ish" creator Kenya Barris to create an original adult animation Netflix series based on his upcoming album Entergalactic!

Turns out, Cudi, AKA Scott Mescudi, is a man of many talents. His anticipated album is serving as the creative foundation for a new 8-episode Netflix series about a young man on his journey to discover love. The series will showcase music from the new album, which is set to be released by Republic Records. Cudi has been slated to star in, write, and executive produce the one-of-a-kind series with The After Party’s Ian Edelman also writing and EPing. Edelman previously collaborated with Cudi when he created his hit TV show “How to Make It in America”. Kenya Barris is also attached to the project as an executive producer under his Khalabo Ink Society banner, which is currently set up under an overall deal with Netflix.

Cudi made his debut onto the music scene with his 2008 album Man on the Moon: The End of Day. Following its wild success -- it received a double-platinum certification from the RIAA -- he later released a second platinum-selling album titled Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager in 2010. Cudi’s more recent works include Kids See Ghosts and Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin. The rapper also launched an acting career in 2010 when he made a guest appearance on American TV drama “One Tree Hill”, starring as himself and performing his Man on the Moon II single “Erase Me”. Meanwhile, he has starred in the TV show “How to Make It in America” and appeared in other shows like “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”, “Entourage”, and “Scorpion”.

For Barris, this is his third announced project with Netflix since he signed his overall deal at the streamer and left ABC Studios. He has also been slated to executive produce a sketch comedy series from the Astronomy Club comedy team and a comedy series titled “Black Excellence” opposite Rashida Jones, which he will also write and star in.

We're excited to see the results of this other-worldy collabo!
