ICYMI: Amazon Developing New Original Series Based on Sandra Bullock's College Years!

Written by Julia Hutchens. Published: June 15 2019

Hold on, Hollwood, this isn’t something you get to see every day. We are about to take a look into Oscar-winning actress Sandra Bullock’s legendary college years! At least we assume they’re legendary, considering that Amazon is using her for inspiration in their new dramedy series.

While Amazon has yet to announce much in the way of details about the new series, we know that, in addition to being its inspiration, Bullock is also working on developing it alongside Akiva Goldsman and John Legend. The idea of turning Bullock’s college life into a TV show came from a spontaneous conversation between Bullock and Goldsman. It just happened to come up. That’s what happens when you’re a Hollywood phenomenon.

Screenwriter Kevin Williamson has a special interest in the project. Apparently, Williamson actually stumbled across Bullock during his own college years. Earlier this week, he wrote on Twitter, “First gay bar I ever entered was freshman year and Sandra was performing! Can’t wait for this!” Williamson is best known for creating both "Dawson’s Creek" and "The Vampire Diaries" as well as writing Scream.

Set in the 1980s, this series features the journey of a not-so-Southern Belle as she searches for realization. While we do not know to what extent the series will accurately mirror Bullock’s life, we do know that the actress attended East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, where she studied Drama. Before graduating in 1987, Bullock became involved in theatre, performing in productions including Three Sisters and Peter Pan.
