How A24 and 'Marty Supreme' Are Reinventing Movie Marketing!

When you think of movie marketing, your mind probably goes to trailers, posters, press junkets — the usual stuff. But what if, instead, a studio used a giant blimp to advertise? Or launched an entire jacket line with the film’s title printed across the back? Or put the star actor on cereal boxes to sell nationwide? Or even painted the Statue of Liberty bright orange? Okay, maybe not that last one. These ideas might sound outlandish, but A24 actually used some of them to promote their new film Marty Supreme starring Timothée Chalamet.
Marty Supreme is set to release on Christmas day of this year and there has been a lot of buzz surrounding the movie, but not for the reason you think. Marketing took a different route in promoting the film, including a 20-minute staged meeting in which Chalamet pitches a series of over-the-top ideas.
An orange blimp with giant black lettering reading "Marty Supreme" appeared above multiple cities in the past few months as a part of the campaign. And that wasn’t the only bold marketing stunt A24 pulled. They also launched a series of pop-ups where fans could purchase the new Marty Supreme jacket, with locations announced only on the day of the event. But the out-of-the-box advertising doesn’t end there — Wheaties is also rolling out a limited-time partnership with the film.

Marty Supreme, also starring Gwyneth Paltrow, is a period dramedy loosely based on the real-life journey of Marty Mauser as he pursues his dream of becoming a champion table-tennis player. A24’s marketing perfectly matches the seemingly quirky and chaotic vibe of the film. This fresh, unconventional approach to movie marketing seems to really resonate with younger demographics, with internet users starting a discourse on social media about the film studio’s campaigning.

A24 has used similar inventive marketing tactics for another upcoming film, The Drama, starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, set to release in April 2026. The film centers on an engaged couple’s wedding, and to promote it, A24 placed a mock engagement announcement in The Boston Globe newspaper. We can’t wait to see how the marketing landscape continues to change with A24 at the forefront.
