Imagine falling in love with someone and that person wakes up in a different body every day. A tad confusing, right?
Well, this concept is explored in the new film Every Day, starring Angourie Rice (Spider-Man: Homecoming) as Rhiannon, and based on the best-selling novel of the same name by David Levithan.
In the movie, 16-year-old Rhiannon becomes attracted to A, a soul that wakes up in a different body every day. A is always the same age and lives in the same area as Rhiannon. The big question is, how is she going to learn to love A if it is never the same person?
Every Day embraces all types of love, since Rhiannon will see A as a girl, transgender, someone of a different race, and more. A is played by 15 actors of all different genders, heights, weights, identities, and races. The movie’s overarching message is to show the meaning of love and loving someone for who they are on the inside. It trumps all physical attraction to show that love is love.
This coming-of-age movie also sparks conversation of acceptance and identity in today’s young adults and their search for love and freedom to be who they want to be. Directed by Michael Sucsy, Every Day is for all ages and identifications and shows the power of human connection. It shows love transcending boundaries and categories in order to focus on the essence of a person, which in this case is A.
Rhiannon herself, Angourie Rice stopped by the YH Studio recently to tell us more about this unique film!
Along with Angourie, other actors that star in the movie include Maria Bello (Grown Ups), Debby Ryan (“Jessie”), Justice Smith (Paper Towns), Jacob Batalon (Spider-Man: Homecoming), and Owen Teague (It).
