Blackpink x Selena Gomez Is The Pop Treat We All Deserve!

The sweet collaboration has arrived, and we’re obsessed. Not only has Blackpink been killing it this summer with their hit “How You Like That”, but “Ice Cream” serves as the perfect cherry on top of the pop sundae. Both tracks have been leading the anticipation for the K-Pop group’s new album, which is due to arrive on October 2nd!

The K-Pop group is no stranger collaborations. They kicked off 2020 with a feature on Lady Gaga’s latest album, Chromatica, for the track “Sour Candy” (a pattern of sweets going on here, which we love!). The group also collaborated with Dua Lipa for the track “Kiss and Make Up”. With a series of rumors about Blackpink collaborating with another huge female pop star, the news of SelPink (aka Selena Gomez + Blackpink) officially broke out!

“Ice Cream” itself is a fun summertime bop with a catchy chorus that is destined to loop in your head almost immediately. The vocal harmonization between Selena, Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa is absolutely amazing. Let’s also talk about Lisa’s solo verse -- the amount of rhyming instantly made it my favorite part of the track! “Ice Cream” became the serve it is thanks to the genius minds of Selena, Ariana Grande, Victoria Monét, Teddy Park, and more that contributed in the writing process.

Now let’s discuss the music video. Obviously due to quarantine, Blackpink and Selena Gomez were unable to be in the same location to shoot the video. Yet, they made it work perfectly! The amount of bright pastel colors embodies the fun vibe of the track. And, of course, they had to feature the frozen treat they titled the song after. Selena is shown driving the traditional ice cream truck with a special SelPink twist to it. Meanwhile, the Blackpink girls are in an ice cream parlor scooping up some cones. It’s all about some summertime fun.

Aside from the stunning and colorful sets, the looks in the video were EVERYTHING. Starting with Selena’s cute sailor-themed costume, followed by the black one-piece and a green (I think it’s safe to say, that Selena may have sparked a visor comeback). My absolute favorite look from the Blackpink ladies were the coordinated knitted pieces with flowers, with the tennis court looks coming in second.
