Anne Hathaway & Octavia Spencer Team Up For Your New Fave Halloween Movie, 'The Witches'!

With Halloween just days away, there is no better time to get cozy and stream the latest Halloween movies and specials that Hollywood has to offer. This Halloween season is not disappointing, as The Witches, starring Anne Hathaway and Octavia Spencer, is currently available to stream on HBO Max. The movie is based on the 1983 novel of the same name by Roald Dahl. It is not only an on screen adaption of this famous novel, but also a remake of the extremely popular 1990 movie starring Anjelica Huston.

Besides Anne Hathaway and Octavia Spencer, the movie is also narrated by the voice of Chris Rock and is more closely tied to the original text of the book, unlike the 1990 production that was loosely based on the novel. Also be on the look out for Mr. Stringer, the hotel clerk, who is played by Stanley Tucci. This movie reunites Hathaway and Tucci, who starred opposite of each other in The Devil Wears Prada. Actresses Morgana Robinson and Kristin Chenoweth also share the big screen in this Halloween special.

The movie follows a 7-year-old boy, Bruno, played by newcomer Jahzir Bruno, who moves in with his grandmother, played by Octavia Spencer, after the tragic death of both of his parents. After encountering a few diabolical witches, the grandmother decides that she is going to take young Bruno on a trip to a seaside resort. Unfortunately, they are unable to run away from the witches, as the Grand High Witch, played by Anne Hathaway, has gathered her fellow witches from around the globe to stay at the same hotel! And even more of a coincidence, the Grand High Witch’s room is right below where Bruno and his grandmother are staying. Bruno plots with two other children and his grandmother on how to defeat these terrible witches until his ill-timed transformation into a rodent due to a magical potion.

Will Bruno and his friends defeat the Grand High Witch and her cronies, or will he be stuck as a rodent forever? The only way to find this out is by logging on to HBO Max and streaming The Witches before the Halloween season passes by!
