This Halloween-themed episode doesn’t involve too many treats, just tricks. Ever since Schmidt’s dad left him, his mother has been pretending to be Batman actor Michael Keaton and writing letters of support and advice to her son. When Schmidt’s mom inevitably stopped doing this, Nick decided to keep up the act for Schmidt’s sanity. In yet another Halloween party scene, Schmidt looks forward to a visit from his childhood hero and the gang must convince him that he’s really been talking to Michael Keaton all these years.
