Though more cliché than creative due to the inclusion of stereotypical jocks, mean girls, and nerds, this Netflix original can be surprisingly relatable to modern times. Follow high schooler Dani Barnes (Nesta Cooper) as she navigates a world full of social media back-stabbing, technology dependence, and trend obsessions, all while dealing with the normal rigors of high school! Dani is a promising student with good grades and dreams of getting into a superb college, but the central premise of this rom-com revolves around her trying to get noticed by superstar athlete Cameron Drake (Keith Powers). It’s the quiet girl going after the jock guy in this teen film, and what turns out to be a few conversations between the pair develops into a stronger relationship filled with deep talks and more in common than they may have realized.
