4. Streaming Networks Are on the Rise

It’s no secret that any cable and broadcast networks not named HBO are hurting, at least in the eyes of the Emmys. Meanwhile, streaming platforms only have room to grow. Yeah, Netflix lost this year to HBO; however, they still did increase their quantity of nominations this year, from 112 in 2018 to 117 in 2019. In addition, Amazon’s Prime Video skyrocketed in their numbers, from 22 nominations in 2018 to a whopping 47 this year. They have their comedy “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” to thank for this year’s success. The show received 20 nominations, titling it as this year’s most-nominated comedy. Meanwhile, most cable and broadcast networks are losing strides, such as National Geographic and NBC. Both their numbers dropped this year compared to last. National Geographic received 17 Emmy nominations in 2018 and only 13 this year. Similarly, NBC received 78 nominations in 2018 and only 58 this year.
